Robert Joseph Testa

Robert "Bob" Joseph Testa, 90, of Pittsburgh, died Thursday, September 1, 2016.
He was born September 15, 1925, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Joseph Carl Testa and Helen Margaret Jackson Testa.
Mr. Testa began his college career at University of Pittsburgh in 1942, and left in 1944 to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He served in World War II for two years in the Pacific Theater. He returned to graduate in 1948 with a degree in pharmacy. He was a proud member of University of Pittsburgh marching band and returned several times to perform on Alumni Day.
In June 1950, he married MaryAnn Bernadette Teolis.
He owned and operated Testa Pharmacy in Swissvale for several years and worked as a pharmacist, until his retirement in the mid 1990s.
Mr. Testa enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, cooking Italian food, making wine and being with family and friends.
He was a member of Madonna del Castello Parish, the senior center and American Legion Post 63, all in Swissvale.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his beloved wife of 57 years, MaryAnn Bernadette Teolis Testa; two sisters, Margaret and Virginia Testa; and two children, Joseph Gregory Testa and Cynthia Jean Testa.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Grant Testa and wife Helene Kess of Cleveland, Ohio, John Charles Testa of Swissvale and Gregory Testa and wife Kathy McCullough-Testa of Southern Shores, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Sarah Ruth Kess of Boston, Mass., and Robert Louis Testa of Los Angeles, Calif.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Thomas L. Nied Funeral Home Inc., 7441 Washington Street, Swissvale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, in Madonna Del Castello Church, Swissvale.
