Rose Gillespie Obituary

In her words, "She did nothing and enjoyed every minute of it." Rose M. Fanale Gillespie of Washington, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024. She was born in Riverton, IL "Go Hawks!" one of four children of the late Oresti B. Fanale and Susie Z. Fanale. Rose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers of the church. On May 23, 1954, she married the late Roy R. Gillespie. Rose and Roy had eight children including two sets of twins. She is survived by her four sons, Bernie (Joanne) of Killeen, Tex., Rory (Judie) of Wauwatosa, Wis., Steve (Susan) of Charleston, S.C., and Kevin (Nancy) of New Market, Md.; her four daughters, Patricia Briggs of Washington, Sharon (Jack) Crites of Walkersville, Md., Karen (Don) Reese of Washington, and Diane (Mark) Smykal of Washington. Rose had 12 grandsons, Patrick, Sean, Brandon, Noel, Andrew, Luke, Philip, Evan, Alex, Connor, Samuel, and Vincent; and eight great-grandchildren, Silvia, Lauren, Kevin, Jack, Rowen, Enzo, Liza, and Emmajean. Also surviving are her two sisters, Alice Coady and Barbara Smith, and her brother, Vincent Fanale and his wife Amma of Riverton, IL. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in the Warco-Falvo Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Owner/Supervisor, S. Timothy Warco II, Director, Holly Renay Warco, Director. The Christian Mothers and the Catholic Daughters will recite the Rosary in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, St. James Parish, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, PA with the Rev. Michael Peck as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Mothers of the Immaculate Conception Church, 119 W. Chestnut Street, Washington, PA 15301 or the Citizens Library, 55 South College Street, Washington, PA 15301. Condolences may be expressed at www.WarcoFalvoFuneralHome.com
