Stephen Weber Obituary

Stephen Michael Weber, 64, of Washington, died unexpectedly Saturday, February 4, 2017.
He was born May 31, 1952, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Abraham and Selma Weber of Washington.
A lifelong resident of Washington, Mr. Weber was a 1970 graduate of Washington High School and studied political science at Point Park College, where he enjoyed working as a college radio announcer and DJ.
He started working in his father's business, Weber Furniture, at the age of 10. He owned and operated the business with his brother, Fred Weber, until it closed.
In 1977, he married Mardi Joy Perlman, with whom he raised four children.
Mr. Weber was generous with his time and talents, loved animals and opened his home to dozens of rescued cats and dogs throughout his life. He volunteered for 30 years as media director of Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, an all-volunteer, nonprofit race that supports Autism Society of Pittsburgh. His love of motorsports also led to wonderful amateur racing opportunities in the One Lap of America rally.
A true people person, his electric smile and infectious humor could light up a room and he was always ready to share a funny story. He was the model dad that kids looked up to. He was always there in a nonjudgmental way and could bring order to the disorderly group of kids who always seemed to congregate at his home. A kind and loving man, he was the kind of parent all aspire to be.
A fan of show tunes, he loved seeing his children perform. He could have been a great performer himself. His accents were solid and hilarious and he always opened with a joke. He was invaluable to Trinity High School's musical productions, offering time, materials, props and, especially in the 2001 production of "Fiddler on the Roof," dialect coaching to the actors. His support and encouragement in the arts propelled his children to follow their passions.
A son of a Russian immigrant, Mr. Weber was fiercely devoted to his family. Always doing the right thing, he sought happiness not just for himself, but for his family, friends and community.
Surviving are his wife, Mardi Weber of Washington; two brothers, Lawrence Weber of Pittsburgh and Fred Weber of Washington; four children, Jenifer Weber and husband Michael Whartnaby of Pittsburgh, Kerry Weber of Oakland, Calif., Elizabeth Weber of Pittsburgh and Rebecca Weber of Los Angeles, Calif.; and two grandchildren, Simon and Lila Whartnaby, both of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., corner of Wilson and East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 10, with Rabbi David C. Novitsky officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Autism Society of Pittsburgh, 4371 Northern Pike, Monroeville, PA 15146, or to Animal Rescue League of Pittsburgh, 6926 Hamilton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.

My prayers are with the Weber family. I remember Mr. Weber and his sons coming to Westland when I was a child.I still have my grandparents dinning room set and a few bedroom dressers. They don't make furniture like Mr.Weber's!!! GOD bless you all.

Fred, Mardi and family, my deepest sympathy on the passing of Steve. His infectious smile, sense of humor and genuine kindness to others made him such a special person. As a sales rep callng on Weber Furniture, meetings with Steve (and Fred) always made me smile. I always loved seeing Steve at the PVGP, where he would take me around the grounds in his golf cart, always treating me like royalty! May he rest in peace.
