Thomas Hartzog Obituary

Thomas Edward Hartzog, Jr., 73, of Washington, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, in his home. He was born June 8, 1951, in Washington, a son of the late Thomas, Sr. and Esther Yeater Hartzog. Mr. Hartzog attended Washington schools as a young man and became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Houston. He worked as a plumber for 50 years and was a loyal member of the Masons. Mr. Hartzog loved playing games on the computer and took special delight in "irritating" his five beloved grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whenever he got the chance. On February 17, 1971, Thomas married Bonnie Lee Varney, who survives. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his stepsons, Bruce Dennick and David Dennick; and his brother, James (Lisa) Hartzog of Washington. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, with Pastor Debbie Ragosky officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mrs. Bonnie Hartzog.
