McDonald, Pennsylvania
Timothy Thornton, 68, of McDonald, passed away suddenly, but peacefully, in his home on, Tuesday, November 22, 2022.
Tim was born on August 19, 1954, in Canonsburg. He was the youngest son of the late William Lee and LaVerne Smith Thornton.
As Timmy lived his entire life in McDonald, he "grew up" under the guidance of the First Baptist Church of McDonald. This church family indeed became just that.
Tim graduated from Canon-McMillan in 1973. There he excelled in football, basketball and track. After graduation Tim attended Robert Morris University, where he received his Bachelor's in Business Administration.
After college, he worked for long stints at Shenago Steel and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and later enjoyed his work and colleagues at South Hills Toyota.
Tim was an avid golfer; he participated in many amateur golf events. He was also a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder, who rarely missed attending a Steelers home game. He routinely enjoyed these events with either his brother or son. If the game was away, Tim "coached" from his living room as though the players could hear him.
Aside from his career, and throughout his life, Timmy enjoyed his family. Tim's family got together frequently and laughed and clearly loved each other and their time together. The family could always count on Timmy to provide a chuckle – and he was always there for any heavy lifting.
Tim's son was his pride and joy and all around best friend. The bond these two shared is unique and beautiful in its own way. They laughed, cried and celebrated together, all while making memories that will now last a lifetime. Timmy's son, LT, could not have been blessed with a better man to be his father and best friend. For these two, death does not end their relationship, it only ends a life that brought so much happiness and love to this world.
Surviving is his built-in best friend and son, Tim (Jacqueline) Thornton; brother, William (Jamie) Thornton; sisters, Sylvia (Wayne) Adams, and Gail (Mark) Matera; former wife and his son's mother, Pamela Blackmon Thornton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, who will all miss Tim.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald 724-926-2800.
A Homegoing Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at First Baptist Church of McDonald, 141 N. McDonald Street, McDonald, PA 15057.

I just heard of Tim's passing today. Wish I was able to make viewing. My first year playing softball for the McDonald Community Men's Softball League was in 1986. I was on Tim's team. Got to know him real well. He was an awesome player I looked up to . Took him to a few tournaments to be my shortstop as he was awesome. Aside from that he was a great guy and enjoyed my time in that league while he played there. Rest in peace my friend. You're the best.

Timmy, I'm really gonna miss you buddy. One of the kindest, most positive humans I've ever been around. The memories we have shared on and off the course will last a life time. Rest In Peace, my friend.
