William J. "Weezer" O'Hare Sr., 98, of Muse, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born November 5, 1922, in Glouster, Ohio, a son of the late John and Viola Meir O'Hare Sr.
Mr. O'Hare lived his life in Muse, where he was a member of Holy Rosary Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish, the Muse Independent Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191. He proudly served as a sergeant with the United States Army during World War II as an airplane and engine mechanic.
Prior to his retirement, he had been employed at McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries and was a painter.
He enjoyed woodworking and made many lawn ornaments. He also enjoyed spending time on his porch swing, baking cookies and making jelly, and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On October 16, 1946, he married Leona Louise Deliere, who passed away June 22, 2008.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his four beloved daughters, Beverly (Vincent) Baselj and Colleen Progar, both of Bridgeville, Anna Marie O'Hare of Muse and Jacklyn (Thomas) Mitchell of Cecil; grandchildren John (Nicole) Baselj, Jodie (Michael) Holtzer, Amy (Scott) Bonnell, Beth Progar, Jessica (Todd) Rainey, Katey Mitchell and Eric O'Hare; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are his son, William J. "Bo" O'Hare Jr.; grandson Jeffrey P. "Bucky" O'Hare; granddaughter Leeann Mitchell; one infant great-great-grandchild; six brothers, Patrick, John Jr. "Hoss", James, Donald "Grit", Leo and Robert "Loggy" O'Hare; and three sisters, Ellen Howe, Dolores "Ann Louise" Marinelli and Mary Catherine O'Hare.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 10, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:20 a.m. Friday, June 11. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the Holy Rosary Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Cecil, with full military rites by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard of Canonsburg and the United States Army.
