Claudette Byers Ferrell

1934 - 2015

Claudette Byers Ferrell, 80, of Newton went home to be with her Lord and Savior with her five children by her bedside on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born September 22, 1934 in York County, SC to the late Robert and Dorothy Haire Byers. Claudette was a member of Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden during her husband's pastorate and the many years that followed. She was a member of the Red Hatters and Handbells at Abernethy Laurels and her hobbies included crocheting and making crafts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Donald Ferrell.

Daughters: Donna Rogers and late husband Alton of Hickory, Teresa Dees and husband Jerry of Conover, Paulette Elmore and husband Ben of Catawba

Brother: Bobby Byers and wife Chris of Laurens, SC

Grandchildren: Krista Huss, Chad Rogers, Dusty Ferrell, Courtney Keller, Harli Ferrell, Derick Estes, Andrea Robinson, Bradley Elmore, Brittney Turbyfill, Casey Harbinson, Chelsea Ferrell.

Great-Grandchildren: Kaitlyn Huss, Caleb Keller, Autumn Keller, Gunner Ferrell, Lawson Ferrell, Noah Estes, Gracie Estes, Colton Estes, Kaitlyn Britton, Kayla Cavanagh, Mia Robinson, Kailey Elmore, Brantley Elmore, Mason Turbyfill, Maddox Harbinson.

A service to celebrate Claudette's life will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Ruhama Baptist Church in Maiden. Mr. Derick Estes (Grandson) and Rev. Mike Staton will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mt Ruhama Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Paulette and Ben Elmore, 1325 Buffalo Shoals Rd., Catawba, NC
