Ocala - Dr. Andrew Malcolm Draper born in West New York, New Jersey on November 22, 1912, passed away peacefully at Tuscany House, on March 2, 2012. Andy grew up in Fairfield, CT, and graduated from Cornell University in 1938 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced in Fairfield until 1972, when he retired to Ocala, FL. Andy was President of the Fairfield County Hunt Club, and Master of the Fairfield County Hunt. He loved horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. He also had earned his airplane pilot's license. While practicing in Fairfield, he was renowned for his work with dermatology of small animals. After moving to Ocala, Andy was able to take up golf and was a member of the Ocala Country Club. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing, achieving the Silver Level in ballroom dancing. He spent many hours with his wife at dog obedience and agility trials, while living in Ocala. Andy is predeceased by his first wife Ruth, and his second wife, Betty. He is survived by his daughters, Joan Healy (Jim) of Fairfield, CT, and Margaret Ashe (Andy) of Halfmoon, NY, by his sister Mary Biehn of Fairfield, CT, and 6 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his step children, Tony Gilyard (Sue) of Williston, FL, and DeeDee Hopper of Coventry, CT, and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff of both the Hospice East Team and South Team, who took such good care of Andy over the past 2 years.
