Danny Burnside Obituary
Ocala - Danny R Burnside, a resident of Ocala, passed away suddenly on June 29th at his home.
Dan is survived by his wife Cathy Burnside, of 39yrs; his children Robert Paul Cessna of Jacksonville, Scott Daniel Cessna of Seattle, Wa and granddaughter Gabriella Dawn Cessna; his mother Mary Graham, brothers Larry D Burnside, H Glenn Burnside and R Allan Burnside; and sister-in-law Donna Burnside.
Dan was born in Miami, Fl on 09/05/1953 to Mary & Harold Burnside. He retired with 42 years at Florida Power & Light where he served as a contractor representative and during hurricanes helped to coordinate meals for up to 2000 emergency workers.
He retired in May 2013.
Dan was an avid sports enthusiast. In high school he received All County honors as defensive end for Miami Norland high school. He was a member of a semi pro football team for two years. After that he also played on numerous recreational softball and racquetball teams.
When Dan wasn't playing sports he was watching his favorite teams, University of Miami or Miami Dolphins.
On March 27, 1982 Dan married the love of his life Cathy, and together they raised her two young sons and their beautiful granddaughter.
After retiring he became involved in the creating wood crafts to sell at the St John Lutheran craft shows which were highly successful.
He looked forward to his yearly "guy trip" with his lifelong friends of 40yrs. They are all more like brothers than friends.
He loved to drive and was often found turning down country roads just to explore.
He was a problem solver and his greatest reward was helping others. In fact he was the primary caregiver for both his mother and youngest brother.
He always made you feel like you were welcomed. He never met a stranger.
Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday July 10th at 3pm at St John Lutheran Church, Ocala, Fl. A small reception to follow at the church.

I'm very sorry to read about Dan. He was a good man and will be greatly missed. Sorry the way things happened years ago with the family but it was for the best. It's been many years.
