CONKLIN, EDWARD S., 81
Ocala - Edward S. Conklin, 81, a fifteen year resident of Ocala, Florida, formerly from Deposit, NY, died peacefully on September 29, 2010 after a long Illness. Ed was a retired truck driver of 40 years. He served In the Navy during World War II. Ed was a past Commander of VFW Post #7991 in Dunnellon where he was instrumental in starting and running Bingo and the Men's Auxiliary. Ed leaves behind his beloved wife Virginia of 31 years, one son; Michael Conklin (Jane) of Ocala and his daughter; Michelle Chemor (Joseph) of Edgewater. FL, two brothers; Henry Conklin (Shirley) of Orlando, Fred Conklin (Bonnie) of Swan Lake, NY and one sister Mary Marino (Peter) of Palisades, NY 3 grandchildren; Joseph, Dominque and Mya Chemor, two step children; Beverly and Alan Cathy along with 3 step granddaughters and 2 step grandsons. Ed was predeceased by one brother William. The family would like to thank Odyssey Hospice, especially, Christina, Christine and Yoland, for being so caring and for making him as comfortable as they did and they also would like to thank Avante of Ocala for all their care and comfort.

There will be a memorial service on Thursday, October 28th at 10:45 AM at the VFW Post 47991 3107 W Dunnellon Road, Hwy 488, Dunnellon, Florida. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery In Bushnell. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to VFW Post #7991 W Dunnellon Road, Hwy 488, Dunnellon, Florida 34432 or Odyssey Hospice at SW 25th Loop; Ocala, Florida 34471

Ginny, It was my honor to care for Ed the last few months of his life. He had such a funny personality and will never be forgotten. I miss Ed and I know he is in a better place now, free from pain. I love you Ginny, God Bless you and your family. May many memories of Ed fill your hearts and help comfort you in this difficult time.
