Joel Hartley Obituary
Ocala - Joel Jackson Hartley was born on August 26, 1972, to Dan and Peggy (Jackson) Hartley in Ocala, FL. In 1980 the family moved to Williston, FL where Joel graduated from Williston High School in 1990. He then attended the University of Florida, graduating in 1994 with a degree in telecommunication. He worked for TV20 as a sports reporter and videographer until Sept. 2003 when he started with the Marion County School Board in the TV/Media production department. He worked there until he passed away on August 26, 2021 at Advent Hospital in Ocala of Covid. He was cremated and his ashes placed in an urn with his dads.
He leaves behind his mother, Peggy, and his "adopted by heart" daughter, Brook, and many friends and family.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Oakcrest Baptist Church, 1109 NE 28th Street, Ocala, FL, on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 am. Countryside Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

My heart goes out to Joel and his family. It's very sad to hear about his passing. I worked with Joel at TV20 in the late 90s. Several of us played golf a few times and I'll never forget Joel's hockey-style putting, it brought some really great laughs. Rest in peace my friend.

My condolences are with the family and I am so sorry to learn about this. Joel was such an asset in his knowledge and dedication to MCPS. He always has such a helpful attitude and was a friend to all. I had the honor of working with him with our technology group for many years. My prayers will be with you.
