JOHN FABIAN Obituary
Ocala - John E. Fabian, Sr. 88, of Ocala FL, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at MRMC. John was born in New York, NY and came to this area in 1955. He was a US Army veteran, retired owner/operator of Silver Springs Motor Court, realtor and teacher.
John spent his childhood in Brooklyn, NY and studied at Adelphi College, Garden City, NY. He played baseball, football and basketball and went on to briefly play minor league baseball. He served two years in the army as a radio and computer operator and five years in the Army Reserve. During active service, he met his beloved wife, Emily Kidwell, daughter of Colonel Kidwell, at the Pentagon.
After marrying and moving to Florida to run the family hotel business, John also studied computer programming at Florida Technical College in Orlando. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening and coin collecting, but most of all he enjoyed being with his loving and ever growing family. John was a happy, selfless and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was blessed with a special charm and playful zest for life.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emily; son, Paul; and brother, William.
John is survived by his son, Jef and wife, Debbie, of Ocala, FL; daughter, Joyce Fabian of Ocala, FL; daughter, Kathleen Fabian of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Eric (Jenny), Matthew (Katie), Andrew (Erin), Brian Lithgow, Julie Lithgow; and seven great grandchildren, Jud, Deric, Kaylo, Brady, Brooks, Avery and Ainsley.
The family will welcome friends at a gathering at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd. The Celebration of life service for John will be Monday, October 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM. Following the service the Army will present honors. Arrangements by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, FL 352-629-7171
