NORMAN NIX Obituary

NIX, JR., NORMAN JERRY
Norman Jerry Nix, Jr., 69, of Ocala departed to our Father in Heaven, our Lord and Savior on November 12, 2019. Jerry was born and raised in Ocala by a loving family and held a lifetime loving relationship with all of them. Jerry always appreciated his community of friends and neighbors. He enjoyed the freedom of independence by living his life on his terms. As the proud son of a carpenter and entrepreneur, Jerry learned many skills from his father. He challenged his own ability and skills to start up and run a successful carpenter business, delivering emergency vehicles all over the US and as a code enforcement contractor. He always had great pride in his work and professional ethics.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Jerry Nix, Sr.; and mother, Myrtle Estelle Nix; niece, Lory Ann Verdon.
He is survived by his four sisters and their husbands, Norma Nix Harber (Skip), Becky Nix Verdon (Larry), Barbara Nix George (Tim) and Deborah Nix Carter (Skip) all from Ocala. Jerry, is also survived by his seven nieces and nephews, many great nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a long time member of First Baptist Church, he was saved and baptized. Jerry LOVED fishing, enjoyed hunting, southern cooking and being part of a large family and friends, all the while making jokes and making laughter and bringing smiles to friendly faces.
His family and friends will be hosting a celebration of life December 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm, 700 NE 142nd Ave. Silver Springs, 34488. Please NO flowers, but donations to Hospice of Marion County 'Legacy House' would be appreciated. What he would like best is showing respect for him by performing random acts of kindness, thinking of him with a smile and passing it on. If you plan on attending, please contact Norma at 352-690-1708 or Deborah at 352-572-8710.

MEMORIES - Jerry it is that time again, will never forget you and boy have I got much to share with you in person. Every so often your name comes across my emails as I hunt for something ( I do a lot of that Jerry) but some nights, whenever I pray and remember my family list, your name is right there with them, takes me about 2 hours to thank everyone and remember THE GOOD TIMES. Let's go fishing, I need more lessons from you. Your dear friend and brother forever. Semper-Fi! Peter.

Hey Jerry, the fish are biting this Thanksgiving day, and I knew you were the guy on the other side of the lake socking them away as usual. I have good memories Jerry, taking them with me when I cross Rainbow Bridge, see you again then. Peter.

Norma and Skip, I remember Jerry as a little kid at Second Baptist Church (Needham Plumbing now)and then Wyomina Baptist Church. The Nix family was very involved in Royal and Girl Ambassadors. All of us were close friends back then and never misses Vacation Bible School. We are so sorry to hear of Jerry's passing and wish we had stayed in touch more. God bless and be with you all. I met Jerry through Skip. Over a few months I got to know him better than I know many people for years.
Jerry was transparent, well versed on worldly matters and a fun person.
We fished on the lake and we talked for hours at several meetings and
by phone. He became more of a brother to me, we had a lot in common
and I looked forward to spending more time with him.
Jerry was a man of integrity and I will miss him for the rest of my life.
Yes I am that attached to someone I knew for only a few months,
he was that unique. I will see Jerry again one day when I cross Rainbow
Bridge so we can fish, laugh, and love for all time. NO MOORE PAIN!
Peter Kawaja/Semper-Fi!
