Clinton Lau Obituary

OELWEIN - Clinton O. Lau, 85, of Oelwein, died Thursday evening, Jan. 6, 2022, at Oelwein Health Care Center.
Funeral service will be 11?a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with the Rev. Josh Schunk officiating. Visitation will be 9?a.m. to service time Saturday, with inurnment at a later date.

Clinton Oscar Lau was born on March 9, 1936, in rural Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Clinton Hanson Lau, Sr. and Dorothea P. Augusta (Fink) Lau. In 1954, he graduated from Oelwein High School. Clint married Barbara Jean Luther and six children were born to this union. They later divorced. Clint worked for the Woolworth Company for six years in various communities. In 1962, he moved back to Oelwein. He then worked for John Deere in Waterloo for over 30 years, retiring on Dec. 31, 1995.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Clint enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns, going to the casino and playing cards.
Clint is survived by his two daughters: Kathleen Lau of Hazleton and Karen (Jim) Smith of Arlington; four sons: Dennis (Carol) Lau of Oelwein, Dan Lau of Des Moines, Clinton H. "Butch" Lau of Rio Vista, California and Craig (Kathy) Lau of St. Cloud, Minnesota; four grandchildren: Clinton J. (Angie) Lau of Denver, Colorado, Amber Lau of Denver, Colorado, Clayton J. Smith of Cedar Rapids and Grace Marie (Quinn) O'Brien of Coralville; seven great grandchildren; four sisters: Alverda Ohl of Oelwein, Marlene (Joe) Ciminera of Walnut Creek, California, Wanda Luther of Lansing and Dorine (Melvin) Keatley of Lansing; brother: Daryl (Linda) Lau of Oelwein; two sisters-in-law: Ruth Lau of Oelwein and Janie Lau of Seattle, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers: Aaron, Leland, Alvin and Gary Lau.
