Athena "Nulie" Jonethis

September 20, 1919 - March 6, 2016



Athena Jonethis - better known as Nulie - died Sunday, March 6, at her home in Nashville, Tenn.

Born in Hochist, Albania, Nulie immigrated with her family to Akron in 1936. She graduated from Buchtal High School in 1941 and worked at the M.O'Neil Company before marrying and moving to Jamestown, N.Y., where she made her home for the next 61 years.

Those who knew her will remember her distinct style, personality and unwavering strength. She lived the American dream but never forgot her roots.

Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 64 years, Terry N Jonethis; Nulie is survived by sons, David (Andrea), John, Terry (Kay) and daughter, Barbara Cassell (Michael); sister, Anita Kote; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will take place in Jamestown, NY, on Friday, March 11. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 15 Francis Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
