Darrell E. Helmick, 84, passed away November 10, 2008.
Born in Newburg, WVa. to the late Samuel and Lina Helmick, Darrell lived in the Akron area most of his life. He worked as a truck driver for the State of Ohio retiring in 1969. He served in the US Army during World War II, was a member of VFW post 3383 and a life member of DAV Post 35.
Along with his parents, Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Lena; and sisters, Betty Funk and Gloria Burggeman. He is survived by his nephew, John Sinnett Sr. and his family; and brother, Jerry Helmick.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Thursday at HENNESSY-BAGNOLI FUNERAL HOME, 936 N. MAIN ST., AKRON. Funeral service with military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 3383.
