David Hohlbaugh Obituary

David V. Hohlbaugh, a soldier in God's Army, was called off the front lines on November 11, 2019, Veterans Day, at the age of 80. He entered into the presence of his beloved Savior, where he heard, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." David was born and lived in Akron, Ohio and attended Springfield High School. He served his country in the Ohio Army National Guard. David was a self-employed mason for over 60 years and a faithful Pastor at Marlboro Assembly of God for 38 years. He was an avid collector of anything on wheels and if something was broken, he could fix it! David was preceded in death by parents, George and Alice Ree Hohlbaugh and his five siblings. He is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 58 years; son, David (Karen); daughters, Betty (Steve), Holly (John) and Heather; grandchildren, Nina, Steven (Katti), Garrett, Hailee, Justin, Abigail, Kelly and Cody. Dad never met a stranger and was ready to minister to people from the congregation, their families, friends and those in the community. He will be deeply missed! Pastor Dave was passionate about supporting our missionaries around the world. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Marlboro Assembly of God Missionary Program. Donations can be sent to Marlboro Assembly of God, 12600 Marlboro Ave., Alliance, OH 44601. Family and friends can join us in celebrating Dave's life on Friday, November 15 from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Saturday, November 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Akron Springfield Assembly of God, 1551 Canton Road, Akron, OH 44312, where Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Wow, another year has gone by that Dave is in the presence of his Savior! My mother told me years ago when she was alive, that the older you get the faster time goes, I am 63 now and completely have agreed with her for years. Dave will always have a very special place in my heart because of the influence he has had on me . I can still see his smile, hear his voice, and laughter like it was just yesterday! God bless all of you, I hope the Lord comforts all of your hearts on this day 5 years later from him graduating to heaven! Can't wait to get there and see all the people that I love that have gone on. Waiting for that trumpet to sound! Thank you Jesus! Love in Christ, Rick Henry

Wow, hard to believe it's been almost 4 years since Dave went home to be with his lord and Savior. Jesus Christ! Very fitting that he would go home on veterans Day, because he was definitely a soldier in the Lord's army! Hope you all are doing well. I don't think it will be long until we are all there seeing him again.I think the Rapture is very close! Thank you Jesus for salvation! I am 62 years old, and the older I get, the more grateful that I am for eternal life! What a great life lived Dave! Well done!! I am forever changed by knowing him and spending time with him! Christ was very strong in him! Still is,Of course, he is face to face with Him now! Love in Christ, Rick Henry

We cannot say enough to show our love for Dave. A brother in Christ, a friend, a pastor to our hearts, he is a stellar person. We say is because he still IS. I, Toni, remember well being introduced to Dave and his family. I was blessed to babysit the children. When I walked into their home I could feel the Lord´s presence there. As I grew up and married and moved away we always came back to Ohio to attend church at Dave´s church. I had health problems and he would pray over me in a back pew. He comforted us when Mike´s mother passed and officiated beautifully over her funeral. The last time I was blessed to see him we were on our way back to Texas and there was Dave at a stop light - we rolled down windows to say warm hellos and talk- he truly showed our Lord Jesus in his life. Looking forward to when Jesus calls up His church and we have that great reunion! I´m sure Dave heard "Well done good and faithful servant". May his family be comforted by our Lord´s precious promises.

I just found out about David's death on the internet tonight!
I am a first cousin from Illinois and live on the farm where his father George was raised. George and family returned to Illinois every summer when David and I were young. We always enjoyed their visit but as we age and our fathers passed away we lost contact with each other. However, I was always impressed with the "George Hohlbaugh" family and did know that David became a minister.
So sorry for the loss of a very kind man!!!

Just remember always, although Dave is greatly missed and it saddens all of us at his loss, it is only temporary, and the next time we see him we will never be apart again from our family and friends that have gone on before us!! I hope this brings you some peace and joy in your hearts!

Hello friends and family of Pastor Dave. I just found out from a friend today that he had passed away. I had no idea, I do not get the newspaper. I am very sad to see him go, but I know where he is! I am very thankful that I stopped by his church last summer on my motorcycle, and telling him during my visit, what he has meant to me since the very day I met him, in1980 at the highway oil gas station on massillon road, that I used to manage. I shared with him and Carroll his wife, what an influence he has had on my life. When I 1st met him in 1980 he showed me what having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ was all about! When asked who was one of the biggest influences in my early Christian walk, without hesitation I would, and will always say,Dave Hohlbaugh!! Had I known he had passed away earlier, I would not only have been at his funeral, but would have been honored to stand up front, and tell everyone what he has meant to me and so many others !! I will say in closing, welcome home my brother! And I will see you on the other side! Thank you for being such an influence to me when I needed it the most!! Love always in Christ, Rick Henry
