Eugene Sharick was an outstanding educator, demanding nothing less than your best at all times. Music lessons, to be sure, but also life lessons. He was generous with praise when you did well, stern but fair when you did not. He lived life con brio, and now has reached the finale. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Sharick was my band director from 1960-1966 at Rittman. He helped develop my love of music starting in the 4th grade. While demanding, thus the nickname "Sarge," our band was always one of the best. My sincere sympathy to family and friends.

Mr.Sharick was my band director at Barberton High from 74 thru 76. I also worked for him in his office my senior year. He was a good man and great band director. He left a lasting impression on me to this day. I will always remember that little smile that he would give the band when we would finish a performance. And how he worked us so hard at band camp every year. He was one of the good ones. RIP.

Mr. Sharick was the heart of the mighty all-brass Barberton High School Marching Band when I was a member from 1970-1972. He was demanding and particular of each of us, but the end result was being the creative genius behind, and leader of, one of the most respected bands in Ohio. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
