Gladys Orms Obituary
Gladys R. Orms (nee Mitchell) passed away quietly April 8, 2014 in Portland Oregon.
She was born May 4, 1917 in Brandywine, W.Va. to both the late William and Zola Mitchell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight; and leaves behind her daughter, Jeannette (Ed) Monish; sons, William and Donald; five grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Gladys retired from Akron Public Schools and per her request, funeral services were privately held under the care of CATAVOLOS FUNERAL HOME in Fairlawn and interment was at Rose Hill Burial Park. For online tributes and condolences please visit www.catavolosfuneralhome.com

MOM I MISS YOU AND I REMEMBER ALL THE GREAT TIMES YOU SPENT WITH ALL US KIDS AS WE GREW UP .I HAVE SO MANY FOND MEMORIES OF YOU AS I GREW UP LIKE THE TIMES YOU TAKE BOBBY AND I CAT FISHING YOUD SIT IN THE CAR AND READ YOUR MAGAZINE TILL WE WERE DONE YOU TOUGHT ME HOW TO CLEAN A CAT FISH SKIN A FROG.I REMEMBER THE TIME YOU WOULD COME OUT IN THE BACK YARD AND PUT WET TOWELS,ON MY SUNBURNED BACK AS I LAID ON THE HAMOCK CAUSE IT HURT SO BAD TO TRY AND SLEEP IN THE BED.I AM SO PROUD OF ALL YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN LIFE GOING TO THE TOP OF THE RANKS IN AKRON SCHOOL SYSTEM CAFEATERIA SYSTEM YOU MADE ME A VERY PROUD SON. I'LL NEVER FORGET THE TRIPS DOWN TO YOUR FAMILY IN VA. & WVA I COULD GO ON AND ON WITH THE MEMORIES WRITE A BOOK :) YOU ALWAYS HAD A KIND HEART AND SPECIALS WORDS YOUD TELL ME .

A great woman that would slide me extras in the lunch line, pick me up to spend time with her grandkids, was as great big sister to my own grandma. I'm honored to come from such a great family. You will be missed. Enjoy the other side and hug everyone there for me. Love Wendy Bee

Memories include visiting Bakersfield and eating some of your AWESOME pecan pie! Last memory I will hold with me forever is when Dad, myself, Dominic and Mia all visited you on your 90th birthday. I am greatful for the time I got to share with you, even though it was limited. Distance was our enemy but you know as well as I do that we were always thinking of each other. I will hold you dear to my heart and know that I am more like you and my dad then anybody else :-) ... Love you Gma! You will be greatly missed but NEVER forgotten. Sweet dreams...

You were the BEST Grandma, I have so many memories,camping and argueing who got to sleep on the table bed ,you picking us up EVERY weekend taking turns riding on front seat arm rest eating tic tacs and putting lip stick on, and after bath powder smiley faces, I am so honored to be your granddaughter,you showed me how to be a grandparent to my own grandchildren

Gladys spent her life as a simple, caring, thoughtful, hardworking, independent, loving woman and so much more. With grace she taught how to live life. Her most important lessons were not verbal; they were in her actions.
She is loved and remembered, always.
