Isaac Magoun Obituary

Isaac Price Magoun

We lost our beloved boy on Tuesday, March 23, 2006. Isaac Price Magoun, 10, bravely battled a brain tumor for two years.

His courageous spirit and sense of humor was an inspiration to all who knew him. Isaac was bright, clever, funny, and had a pure heart. He was a loving soul and could express his affection easily. He was an inventor, a mathematician, a scientist, a swimmer, an optimist, a magician, a scout, a joker, a yu-gi-oh duelist, a fan of Japanese anime, and a good friend. To know him was to love him. We are crushed that his life was so short.

He leaves behind his heart-broken parents, Amy Price and George F. Magoun. He is also survived by his loving Tata and Dee; grandparents, Jack and Patricia Price, and other Tata and Granny Bee, George and Betty Magoun. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles, Jack and Pam Price, Bill and Carole Price, and Read and Melinda Magoun; and cousins, Emily Price and Jack Morgan Price. There are also many great-aunts, -uncles and second cousins to make for big, loud, and fun family gatherings -- and Isaac loved a party. He will also be missed by his best friends, Daniel Blair and Michael Kenny.

Having grown up in the Tallmadge United Methodist Church, he was lifted up and supported by Pastor Gary and friends there during his surgeries and treatments at Akron Children's and St. Jude's Hospitals. Our heartfelt thanks to them and to Mrs. Prochnow and all at Munroe Elementary School, also the staff of Akron Public Library, Children's Paliative Care, and Anna of the Hospice of Western Reserve. Isaac touched many lives on his journey and we are all better people for having known him.

"And when his vacant place I see,

My heart will bound with joy that he,

was mine for so long -- my fair young son -

And cheer for him whose work is done."

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m., with Rev. D. Lynn Snider officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Tallmadge United Methodist Church, 207 N. Munroe Rd., Tallmadge, Ohio 44278 Online condolences may be sent to www.NewcomerFamily.com.

Issac Magoun went to my school. Everybody loved Issac. We decorated his locker with sticky notes which said nice things about him on them. I will always remeber Issac as an angel sent from heaven to Earth.

Dear Amy and George,

I am having such a hard time expressing in words how much we will miss Isaac. He and both of you have been such an important part of our lives for more than half of Danny's life. Memories of all our conversations and precious moments with Isaac keep flooding in at unsuspecting times. I know that he is now entertaining and enlightening heaven with his humour, spirit, and curiosity. They are so lucky. What a priveledge to be among the many who was touched by his light. He will be greatly missed- Your good friends, Todd, Sherry and Danny Blair

Dear Amy and George,

David and I would like to tell you how sorry we are about the passing of Issac. Being part of a large family we did not know Issac like we knew each other as cousins. I feel confident that "Uncle John" and Issac are with God, sharing wonderful thoughts and becoming great fishing buddies, as well as sharing his great "cherokee" and Rice Lake stories. Our love and prayers to your entire family.

Dear George and Amy,

Its been a long time. Larry and I were so saddened to hear of Isaac's passing. It brought memories back of the two of you at that age sleeping under the stars in the back yard and playing ball together. We have been thinking of you both and praying that the peace Isaac is now feeling will help you deal with the intense loss. May God hold you close to help you. Hopefully, knowing an old friend(Stonewood Drive) is keeping you in his thoughts will bring a smile of happier times. Love Larry and Marti Kline family.

My deepest sympathy to all of Isaac's family and friends. I did not know him personally. But heard so many good things about him from my nephews Joe & Jim. What a brave little boy. We have prayed for him many of times. And I will keep you in my prayers. May God give you the strength and comfort to handle your lost.

God Bless you All.

Amy & George-

Your loss of Isaac is shared by so many of us that knew him. It is hoped that this sharing eases some of your pain. Isaac had the optimism and a zest for life that allowed him to endure his disease. You must now find your optimism and a zest for life to get through loosing him. He'd want you both to go on.

I think of him every time I see a Saguaro in the Arizona desert here. I see "flat Isaac" hugging that big cactus overlooking my city. He brought me great joy that day, even though he wasn't physically here. That joy is still here.

Mr. & Mrs. Magoun

I'm the Summit County Public Health nurse who taught Family Life to the 5th graders. Isaac attended several Family Life classes. I had the honour of having two short visits with him. He was respectful and kind toward his teachers and his peers. His sparkling eyes and mature questions left a memorable impression. You have my heartfelt sympathy.

Dear Mrs. and Mr. Magoun,

Isaac was awesome. If I were to choose my best friend I would pick Isaac. He had a great sense of humor, everyone thought so. We can always remember him as a great guy. I miss him and it seems like everyone else on this planet misses him!

Dear George, Amy, Read, The Magouns and other family members I have not yet met: I am very saddened for your loss. I remember very well the time that George and Amy got married, and seeing baby pictures of Isaac. Read was good about sharing recent stories and photos with me. I too am in grief over the loss of my father, but as much as it hurts, I am grateful for the time I had. Isaac was at the beginning of his life, and from what I hear was an amazing young man. Maybe Isaac is teaching Cue how to play Yu-Gi-Oh. I just now received notice, otherwise would have been able to make arrangements and attend services. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Much love from a lifetime friend-Giselle Fleming

Although sadly I did not know Isaac personally, I witnessed an outpouring of love and generosity through my family and their connection to you. What an amazing child he must have been. God be with you and give you strength during this time of deep sadness and may you find comfort in knowing how many people truly care.

To Issac's Family,

I read about this courageous little boy and had to let you know how deeply saddened I feel for all of you. You held this child for a few short years and saw strength and courage emanate from him that most adults don't achieve. May the many happy memories you have of him remain a treasure to your hearts. Nothing is harder to endure in this life than to lose a precious child - May God be with you and give you the strength and courage your son had.

Dear Mrs. and Mr. Magoun,

Isaac was a cool person and a good friend. I really wish that Isaac And I could of been best friends. I am going to miss Isaac but it's selfish for us to want him to be down here when he is in a better place. All the 5th graders loved him and we are all sad that he is gone. Isaac was the best friend that anyone could have, sometimes I wonder if we shouldn't show our sorrow but then again he was loved and that's why we show are sorrow. Isaac's locker is covered in sticky notes, the students and staff will never forget Isaac and neither will I.

Yours son is now with Jesus. He will no longer feel the pain of this world. Although he isn't there with you he will always be in your heart I pray that you will find comfort in God's love and know that others share your grief. Isaac joins many angels who have lived on this earh and we miss so much. My grandson Noah lived 1 1/2 hours and we knew upon his birth it would be hello / goodbye. Isaac had a purpose in your lives... it is now up to you to know what it was. He is fine...and I hope you know that you will be in my prayers in the days ahead to give you love and comfort. God bless you all.
