Jack Weigel Obituary
He was born October 8, 1923 in Akron to Otto and Lucy Weigel. He lived in the Akron area all his life and courageously served his country aboard the USS Cushing (DD797) during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He was involved in strikes on Okinawa, Tokyo, the Northern Philippine Islands and the Battle of Midway Bay, just to name a few. He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and was a member of Firestone Park United Methodist Church.
Jack enjoyed golfing and watching any sports, and going to Steinley's for breakfast.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ethel Mae.
The family would like to express thanks to caregivers, Jim, Helen, Regina and Carol for their special care of Jack over the years.
Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with service beginning at 11:30 a.m. Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Hospice, 3515 Massillon Rd., Uniontown, OH 44685, in memory of Jack.
