Jacqueline "Jackie" Campbell Lehman, 65, of Akron, died peacefully with family on April 5th. In the Fall of 2007, Jacqueline was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She passed away five months later at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.
Jacqueline and her twin sister, Joyce, were born in Ashtabula, Ohio to Robert and Thelma Campbell. Jacqueline spent many hours of her childhood in her Nana's flower shop where she developed her love for plants. She attended Ashtabula High School. Jacqueline and her sister graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1963. Jacqueline worked at St. Luke's Hospital, where she met Dr. James A. Lehman, Jr. They were married in September of 1965 and had four children together.
Jacqueline was an active member of the community. She volunteered her time and talents for many organizations including: Children's Hospital and Medical Center of Akron, Mobile Meals, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Ohio Ballet, Girl Scouts, Witan, Our Lady of the Elms, Walsh Jesuit High School, and the American Red Cross. She served as a nurse and administrator for Barberton Community Health Clinic for over ten years.
Jacqueline loved the outdoors. She was an avid tennis player and skier. She spent her mornings walking the Towpath Trail and participated in the Akron Metro Parks hiking spree every Fall. In 2002, she became a volunteer for the Akron Metro Parks. She amassed over 1,000 hours as a member of the volunteer trail patrol. She also enjoyed eco-touring in the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, and Brazil, and heli-hiking in Banff, Canada.
Jacqueline had a playful spirit and a creative soul. She had a wonderful ability to make holidays seem magical, especially Halloween. She often greeted trick-or-treaters in creative costumes. Jacqueline was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making unique costumes, clothing, and stuffed animals.
Jacqueline is survived by her mother, Thelma Campbell of Hudson, Ohio and her twin sister, Joyce Matin of Kirkland, Wash. Jacqueline leaves her children and grandchildren: daughter, Kathleen Lehman; son-in-law, Daniel O'Shea, and granddaughter, Magdalena Lehman O'Shea of Seattle, Wash.; son, James Lehman, daughter-in-law, Jessica Lehman, and grandson, Luke Lehman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Thomas Lehman of Akron, Ohio; and daughter, Coley Lehman and son-in-law Seth Engelhard of Portland, Ore. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves behind her beloved dog, Nigel.
Friends may call Friday, April 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ciriello and Carr Fairlawn Chapel (39 S. Miller Rd). A celebration of Jacqueline's life will be held SATURDAY, April 19th at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Walsh Jesuit High School, 4550 Wyoga Lake Road, Cuyahoga Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either: The Jacqueline Campbell Lehman Nursing Scholarship at The University of Akron Foundation, Akron, OH 44325-2603 or In Honor of Jacqueline Lehman at Akron Metro Parks, 975 Treaty Line Road, Akron, Ohio 44313.

Dear Lehman & Campbell families,
When I think of Aunt Jackie three words immediately come to mind and those are: patience, caring, and humorous... I have many fond memories from Scotland to Florida and feel fortunate that I was "lucky" enough to be her niece... Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
All our love,

Unfortunately, we are out of town and will miss the service for our dear friend Jackie. We loved skiing with her and spending time with the Lehman family at Holimont. The entire Lehman family has always been so nice to us. I'm sure Bruegers will miss Jackie's frequent visits after her walks at Sand Run or the Towpath and we'll sure miss seeing her there. We love you Jackie!

I remember Jackie when she yearly hosted the Witan quiche workshops in her home on Ely. She had more ovens and freezer space than the rest of us. We squeezed that spinach and had so much fun getting ready for Witan's french market.
Jackie was one of a kind...she will be missed.

Jackie was a wonderful neighbor and friend. I miss the evening walks with the dogs talking, laughing, and just catching up on each other's day. Her quirky sense of humor and practical jokes made living right next door a fun experience that will remain in my memories. My sympathies to Jackie's family and friends.
