James Samuel Gibson II

1946 - 2021

James Samuel Gibson II, after his couragous battle with cancer, peacefully transitioned to heaven on August 25, 2021. The son of the late James Samuel Gibson I and Gladys Mae Burton Gibson, James was born July 1, 1946, in Akron, Ohio. After graduating from Akron South High school in 1964, James joined the U.S. Army and served for three years. In his last year of service, he served in South Vietnam. On his return to Akron, he worked for the B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Co., United Dental Lab, Cardinal Maintenance, Olive Garden, The University of Akron, prior to retirement. James was preceded in death by sister, Angela Rose Gibson. He is survived by brother, Gregory L. Gibson; sister, Roberta Gibson Rogers (Clinton Rogers); son, James Samuel Gibson II (Desandra) former wife, Arthurene Rene Hodo Gibson; aunt, Suzanne Armour; aunt, Hazel Shelton; nieces, April L. McDaniel (Michael) and Kimberly Rogers; nephews, Eugene Rogers and Samuel C. Gibson; grandniece, Makayla McDaniel and grandnephew, Shawn M. (Candice) McDaniel, and a host of other relatives and friends. James was a kind man who loved God, his family and specially his Mom. He now rests with Jesus Christ, our Lord, in perfect health.
