John P. Regan

John Paul Regan, 76, of Akron, Ohio the beloved husband of Cindy passed away on October 15, 2016 in the comfort of his home after a three year courageous battle with cancer.

John was born in Michigan City, Ind. to the late Weldon and Adriana Regan on January 20, 1940. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend, Ind. and attended Indiana University. John was a proud United States Navy Signalman who served on the USS Ingraham. He was employed by the Kent Company, now known as Nilfisk Advance in Elkhart, Ind. before transferring to Akron as a regional Sales Manager. John enjoyed traveling, boating, dancing and living life to the fullest. He was an active member of St. Bernard Church as a Eucharistic Minister, altar server and with their food bank ministry.

John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cindy Righter Regan; daughter, Lisa (Paul) Risner; son, John Jr.; step-daughter, Leslie (Rick) White; grandchildren, Ashley Chapman, Katie (Scott) Donaldson, Tyler Baker, Madison Risner, Alexandra White, Steven White and Meredith White; great-grandchildren, Owen, Jocelyn and Lola; brothers, Weldon Regan II, Dennis Regan, Tom (Cathy) Regan; sister, Annette Thompson; along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws, special family members, lifelong friends; neighbors, and his Church family. John was preceded in death by brothers, Walter and George; sisters, Dorthea, Adriana, Mary, Johanna and twin sister, Jeannette.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319 on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Ave., Akron, OH 44309, on Thursday, October 20th at 10 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio will take place at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Bernard's Food Bank in memory of John. Funeral home/church maps, directions, and the Regan Family condolence book are available at the funeral home website.
