Josephine Nave Obituary

On Thursday, May 2nd, 2013, the Lord called upon one of the most precious, strongest, kind-hearted, unique women on earth to be an angel in Heaven, Josephine Mary "Nenelle" Nave (nee Leone), age 84, passed away peacefully at home under the careful watch of her daughter, Nancy, along with her family and friends, including her dearest companion, James.

Jo was born on March 6, 1929 to the late Thomas Leone and Clara (DiCola) Leone in Youngstown, Ohio and grew up as one of the "Gibson Girls". In 1954 she married the late Grier Harvey Nave, moved to Akron, and had three wonderful children, Mary (Ron) Brincko, Nancy (Marty) Baker, and her "Baby Boy" Roy Nave (Mon Subba).

Jo is survived by her three sisters, Gloria (Frank) Wielbruda, Ginger (Steve) Kubala, and Mary Reigle; two brothers, Thomas "Bones" (Jackie) Leone and James "Squirt" (Georgia) Leone.

She retired after 25 years of service from Rockyknoll Presbyterian Nursing Home in Akron. Jo was full-blooded Italian so she loved cooking and baking, especially during holidays. She enjoyed crocheting and watching TMC (Turner Movie Classics). She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, Deena (Nathan) Snipes, Jesi Crane (Ethan Shumacher), Tiffany Crane, Sunny Crane, Damon Jones, and her newest grandson, Evan Nave. Jo also enjoyed her three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsie and Christine Newton; and dearest companion, James Walkup. In such a "small world", she was well-known within the deaf community as a respected member of the Akron and Youngstown Deaf Clubs, the Deaf Outreach Church in Green, and the Deaf Ladies Fraternity.

The family would like to thank Summa Cooper Cancer Center, Hospice staff and Dr. Mehesh for their dedication and support. Also, the family would like to extend special appreciation to Linda Williams and Linda Waisner.

Calling hours will be Thursday, 5 to 9 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 10:45 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Deaf Outreach Church, 2255 Greensburg Rd., North Canton, OH 44720. To leave a special message for the family, visit www.NewcomerAkron.com <http://www.NewcomerAkron.com>.

I met Josephine once through her deaf sister and mother at a deaf picnic in the early 70s. She was a kind soul and came from a wonderful family. She will be sadly missed but not forgotten. May she rest in peace. From: Irene Tunanidas, Teacher, Youngstown, Ohio

Gramma I am sad to have you leave me, but I am glad you are not suffering anymore. I will miss you more and more each day. You touched so many lives during you 84 yrs on earth, especially mine. Heaven received a wonderful gift. You are an angel now and I know you will watch over all of us. We will meet again, but not before I carry out my promises I made to you. I love you soooo much and I wish I would been able to keep you here longer but God had another plan that he needed you for. You were that absolute BEST GRANDMA and MOTHER that anyone could wish or hope for. My heart is broken because of your loss, but the memories we have made especially in the last year will stay in my heart forever. Until we meet again gramma I will keep an eye on things here earth, cause I know your handling them up there. Rest in Peace and I will miss and love you FOREVER!!!!

Mommy, I know your in such a better place now and you have no more pain and suffering, I'm just so sorry you had to endure such pain and discomfort in the last year of your life, but I remember you saying how happy you feel having Tiffany here and all the fun things we did together and how you couldn't wait until the weekend for her to come back and do more things...how you loved getting your nails and toes polished and will never forget Tiffany pushing you around Walmart in a wheelchair for the first time...We're gonna miss those times so bad, but we'll think of you every time we polish our nails and go shopping...It's just going to be hard for me to remember not to buy something for you...ha,ha I love you my mommy and hold your pillow close to my heart always and forever...I will never forget how much you loved us all no matter what...and Lucy Lou Clara Jo knows your ok now becuz she is back to normal leaving her toys all over the floor. Missing you now!!!!
