Keith Byers Obituary

Keith Byers, 48, passed away quietly October 7th after a protracted battle with cancer.

Keith was a 1980 graduate of Springfield High School where he was an all-league athlete in football and performed the lead in the musical production of The King and I.

Keith attended Ashland College on an athletic scholarship. After he left college, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he met his wife, Vicki and where his son, Tyler was born. In the early 1990's they returned to the Akron area where they purchased a Domino's Pizza Franchise. Keith was self-employed until he returned to school in 2008 and received his certification as an over-the-road truck driver.

Keith cherished his family and friends and always sought to help those in need by any means possible.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki; son, Tyler; mother, Joan; brother, Gary and his loving aunt, Kate.

A memorial service will be held at St. Jacobs Community Church of Cairo, 8169 Kent Ave., Northeast, Canton, Ohio at 2 p.m. on October 30, 2010.

I am so sorry to hear of this news. I live in Arizona now and often wanted to get in touch with Keith and wondered where he might have moved. He and I had great fun together in Highschool while in band. He helped bring our trumpet section to life in stage band with his wonderful sense of humor and love of music. I want his wife and son and family to know I never forgot how kind and thoughtful and what a great guy he was even though he liked to be ornery. We loved him for ALL of that. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I had some of my best times hanging with Keith. I was sad when I heard the news that this happened. Keith was one of my best friends in my early 20's and he helped shape my life. Keith was a great man and I will always be grateful for him being in my life.

To Keith's Wife,Vicki,Son,Tyler and Mother, Joan

Keith went to school with my children. We will always remember him as a handsome, nice young man. He was at our house a lot and played football with our son, Jim. We will also remember him as the King of Siam. Jim and Jack Coppenger were the guards at his palace gate. That was some threesome! As much as he was at our house, we never did figure out if it was just to see Jim or his sister, who was a year or so younger. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Vicki & Tyler:

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Domino's just isn't the same without Keith and his humor. His memory will continue on.

Keith and I were partners in business as well as brothers-in-law. Keith was inspirational to many of his employees and was looked up to as a father figure by many of them.

His contribution to society over the many years of his business operations through teaching his employees how to enjoy work and succeed will be sorely missed. Keith's work ethic was second to none.

Keith and Vicki took many people under their arms and in to their home to help them. He was not perfect but he was a good man and I will miss him.
