Marvin R. Ortscheid Sr.

Marvin Ortscheid, 87, passed away January 2, 2021. He was born March 13, 1933 in Orma, West Virginia to the late James H. and Prudence O. Ortscheid. Marvin's greatest love was his family. As a single dad, he dedicated his life to his children. He loved animals, enjoyed visiting the Hartville Flea Market, having lunch with friends, going to classic car shows and spending time outside enjoying life with family, friends and neighbors who stopped by. Always friendly and kind, Marvin made friends everywhere he went. Besides his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by four brothers and two half-sisters. He is survived by his son, Marvin, Jr. (Grace); daughters, Mary Ortscheid and Anna (Chris) Bolyard; grandchildren: Jesse (Samantha), Justin, Mercedes and Lisa; one great-grandson; brother, Harland Ortscheid; sister, Mary Ice; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held at NOON on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (SR619), Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rev. Michael B. Smith officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home where social distancing and health protocol (i.e. wearing of face covering, staying 6 feet apart, no handshakes or hugs) will be followed.
