Mary Ortscheid

Mary L. Ortscheid, age 82, of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Friday, January 9, 2026 at Arborwood Lodge in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 16, 2025 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Deacon Tom Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.

Mary was born February 8, 1943 in Stevens Point, WI to Benjamin and Helen (Flaig) Niemczyk. She married Robert Ortscheid on February 23, 1963 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph.

Mary worked for many years at Shopko and Wilbern's Restaurant in Wisconsin Rapids.

Mary enjoyed socializing with neighbors around the firepit, shopping, and trying her luck at bingo or the casino. She also enjoyed puzzles, sewing, golfing, and road trips. She was a huge Green Bay Packer fan. She loved polka music and could dance the best Flying Dutchman. Her greatest love was her family and she especially cherished the role of grandma.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Robert; three daughters: Roxanne (Darrow) Cather of Nekoosa, Rhonda Zimmer of Wisconsin Rapids, and Molly Ortscheid of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren: Lindsey (Duane) Hohlstein of Amherst, Brittany (David) Lutz of Amherst, Alexis Zimmer of Minnesota, and Sophia Zimmer of Minnesota; six great-grandchildren: Jackson, Charlotte, Otto, Matilda, Silas, and Alex; four sisters: Connie Jones, Lucy Liebe, Bonnie (Dennis) Lila, and Judy Kinney; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson Liam; brother Richard Niemczyk; and sisters Betty Nowacki, Elaine Bacon, Irene Day, and Shirley Kluck.
