Melanie Hanson Obituary
On the afternoon on March 8, 2016, at the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, Melanie left this world to begin her new life in Paradise.
Melanie was born in Akron on March 20th, 1951 to the late James and Mary Hackett and graduated from Garfield High School in 1969. Of her many achievements in life, Melanie succeeded best at bringing beauty and humor into the lives of her family and loved ones. She wrote poetry, read extensively, had a keen eye for visual aesthetics, and deeply embraced the emotion conveyed through music. Though small in stature, Melanie's heart was big and she wore it openly. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family, all of whom loved her dearly. She shared her faith in Christ willingly and graciously. Her life will remain a constant example and inspiration to everyone who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Melanie was preceded in death by her brothers, David and
Gerard Hackett. She will be greatly missed by her best friend of 18 years, Dave Hanson; son,
Andrew (Lucy) Hackett; daughter, Nancy (Yves) Dossous; brothers; Greg (Marion) and Mark
(Annette) Hackett; sisters, Michaeleen (Jerome) Finefrock and Therese Hackett (Dave Mezzacapo); grandchildren, Aislinn, Josiah,
Silas, Eli, Alexandre,
Samuel, and Eliana, as well as many nieces, nephews and Ashley Hanson.
A celebration of Melanie's life will take place at Noon on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319 (SR 619). Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Inurnment at East Liberty Cemetery.
