Richard M. McClure

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Richard M. McClure, 91, passed away November 24, 2017.

He was a lifelong Akron resident. Rick served his country in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was awarded a Bronze Star. He graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Rick built, owned and operated the Westwood and Silverwood Apartments.

He was an avid collector of fine automobiles, art, antiques and coins. Rick traveled extensively throughout the world and even learned nautical skills, sailing his yacht from Ohio to Florida. He enjoyed reading, especially biographies, history and the daily paper. Rick loved his television programs especially Judge Judy. He will be truly missed by his cronies at his Saturday breakfast club.

Preceded in death by sisters, Patty Scalla and Mary Jane Martin; he is survived by his wife, Ann; step-children, Patrick, Thomas (Kim), Douglas (Andrea) and Matthew (Nora) Fleming; step-grandchildren, Sean, Kellie, Hollee, Nicholas, Katelyn, Hannah, Jack and Molly; step-great-grandchildren, Dominic, Kennedy and Fintan; brother, Jack; many nieces and nephews and his beloved Golden Retrievers, Otis and Chloe.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1761 Second St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. In lieu of other remembrances memorials may be made to the Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
