Scott Wilkinson Obituary

Scott David

Wilkinson I

Scott David Wilkinson I, 47, of Akron passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2016 after a brief illness.

A 1987 graduate of Firestone High School, Scott attended Akron and Kaplan Universities, and St. Petersburg College while pursuing a degree in Business Management. An excellent salesperson, Scott enjoyed career success as a manager at Century 2000, owner of The Car Toy Store and he became a franchise owner in the restaurant industry as well.

Scott's personality was larger than life. Generous to a fault, he never met a stranger and was always willing to help others in any way he could. A lifelong sports enthusiast (Chargers, Indians, Cavs), he was never happier than when he was near the water; fishing and boating were two of his passions. He also enjoyed cruising on his Harley motorcycles with Jimmy Buffet and Bruce Springsteen along for the ride!

Hard working and always up for a challenge, Scott had a real talent for cooking and grilling, as well as for building, renovating and fixing things. His sense of humor was keen and often self-deprecating, as he never took himself too seriously. Most of all, he cherished being a hands-on father and loving family man.

Scott was preceded in death by his beloved Grandpa Stuart (with whom he spent many wonderful summers on Shelter Island learning how to fish) and Grandma Stuart. Scott leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life and wife of nearly 30 years, Nancy; three beautiful sons, Scott David II (Samantha), Jacob and Kyle Wilkinson; parents Tom and Lynn Wilkinson; brother, Tommy (Melissa) Wilkinson; dear sister, Kristin Wilkinson; favorite Uncle, Bill (Sue) Stuart; cousins, Bill, Laura, Kevin and Scott; parents-in-law, Terry and Barbara Campbell; sisters-in-law, Taryn and Cara (Todd, deceased) Campbell; many adored nieces, nephews, other family and good friends.

Cremation has already taken place and there will be no service per the family's wishes. In lieu of flowers or other offerings, a donation in Scott's memory to his favorite charity, the Gary Sinise Foundation, would be appreciated.
