Walter Glenn Durst, of Waldorf, MD., formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, passed away June 11, 2009. He had ALS for two years. We thank God he died peacefully and in his sleep.

Walt was born on August, 11, 1941, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Leland Durst. He is survived by his mother, Louise Durst; his loving and devoted wife, Joy; four children, Lori (Ira) Carter, Heidi (Ted) Gregory, Holli (Lester) Burket and Todd (Amy) Durst; he had 11 grandchildren, that love him and will miss him immensly, Josh, Zach and Nate Brandenstein, Hannah Carter, Maggie and Eli Gregory, Jordan and Ethan Durst, Abbey and Joel Wessner and Noah Burket. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, David Durst, Kay (Ken Weeks), Catherine (Al) Klouda, Ed (Kathy) Durst, Linda Wyatt, and Ron (Pearl) Durst. He also had many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

His greatest joys in his life were being a policeman in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, for over 33 years, his Harley and his Mustang convertible. He was never shy about talking to anyone about them! He loved to help people and was a blessing to many. He also served in the Navy for four years and in the Army for two and was very proud of his country.

There were no funeral services. As per his request, he will be cremated and his ashes will be placed in a Harley Davidson urn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the ALS Foundation, Donate by mail: The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter, 7507 Standish Place, Rockville, MD. 20855, or online at htttp://alsinfo.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=362. To the entire Durst family.

Having had the fantastic opportunity to worked with, riding side by side on our Harley's,and just generally talking with Walt will remain forever in my memory. Passing the news of his untimely passing brought the same reaction from EVERYONE: "Wow, how sad, he was one of the good guys". My father also passed having been inflicted with ALS. I hope they meet each other in the afterlife, 2 of the best GOD had to offer. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Joy,
We are so sorry to hear about Walter's illness and passing. Molly and I have alot of found memories of him.He was one of our favorite patients when we both worked at Millpond Family Physicans.
He always had a smile on his face and we loved to tease him about if he ever saw us speeding in Cuyahoga Falls he was to just smile and wave.

Dear Durst family,
I am so sorry to hear of Walt's passing. One of the best childhood memories I have is living across the street from all of you. Walt and my dad were always on us about somthing. But it was good that way. I miss you all and wish you all the best. My prayers are with you.

I am very sorry to hear of Walt's passing . He was a very kind and caring man. And I enjoyed very many stories that he had to tell . I enjoyed him as a customer @ the Acme on State Rd. He would always put a smile on my face. You are in our thoughts and prayers .
God Bless you all.
