Thomas Marshall Durst

Thomas M. Durst, of Troy, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 40 years to Mary Durst. Loving son of the late Henry Durst and the late Margaret Durst. Devoted father of Kelly (Kyle) Dent, Thomas (Sheryl) Durst, Jr., John (Candylee) Durst, and Michael (Lisa) Durst; Cherished grandfather of Margaret Durst, Christian Durst, Courtney Durst, and Hailey Durst. Brother of Henry (the late Sophia) Durst, Jr., Mary Beth Durst, William (Gina) Durst, Margaret "Peggy" (Jerry) Poepsel, and the late John (Valerie survives) Durst.

Tom proudly founded many businesses including Tommy Ds, Dairy Queen, and Shamrocks. He was very involved in the community, especially with the Historical Society, where he enjoyed building and preserving. Tom spent his free time fixing things, especially his 55 Chevy. One of his guilty pleasures was reading books on the beach while drinking his coffee, and he loved a good dessert. Tom was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Tom’s name to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital.
