Dear Ruth,
I was very saddened to learn of Bill's death. I'd like to offer my deepest condolences to you and family. You will recall that I was the one who recruited Bill from Ohio State. I was very impressed with him from the beginning and he became, as I expected, one of the best chemists we ever had at Goodyear. I don't think I ever met anyone who worked so hard and was so dedicated. He was a tremendous asset to Goodyear and I was very privileged to have known him. He will be greatly missed.

For over two decades I had the pleasure of working with Bill on patenting his numerous (100+) inventions. Bill was an extremely creative chemist that lived to work in his lab and that could always find a way to say “OK.” Bill was totally loyal to Goodyear and all of his coworkers knew that they could depend on him. He will be missed by all.
