LOMBARD, Ill. — Dr. C. Robert Humphreys, age 73, of Lombard, Ill., passed away November 29, 2020, with his loving wife of 43 years, Shelley (Lintala) Humphreys and their son, Jeremy, by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lois Humphreys and his in-laws, Don and Florence Lintala, of Gallipolis.
Bob earned a B.A. Degree in Biology from Nasson College, an M.S. Degree in Biological Sciences from Kent State University and B.S. and D.C. Degrees from National College of Chiropractic. He also held a Diplomate in Neurology. In 2015, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation.
Bob taught in the science department at Rio Grande College before moving to Lombard, where he taught clinical neurology at National University, as well as post-professional courses in neurology and electrodiagnosis. He previously served as chairman of the diagnosis department, supervisor of the family practice residency and director of the student clinic. Bob also taught in the post-professional faculty at several chiropractic educational institutions as well as the Carrick Institute.
As a Professor at National University of Health Sciences, Bob shared his passion for learning, his expertise and love of functional neurology, and his sense of humor with his students and colleagues for nearly four decades.
Bob loved sailing, scuba diving and sharing meals with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and those who knew him will always remember his exuberant laughter, generous spirit and passion for life.
No services will be held at this time. There will be a celebration of life scheduled in the future.

Dr. Humphreys was an excellent teacher. I will always remember his wonderful demeanor and ability to inspire and educate his students. The University of Rio Grande was fortunate to have had him on their faculty. My sincere sympathy to his Family.

Shelley and Jeremy, we were deeply saddened to hear about Bob's passing. Although we were not in contact much in recent years, I will always remember him a kind and generous man who enjoyed life to its fullest. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I first met Bob when he was working as the projectionist at the Colony Theater in Gallipolis. His sense of humor was overwhelming and his passion for life made him unique beyond words. He will be missed by any and all whose life he touched.
