ALAN YORK Obituary

Alan Everett York
April 24, 1961 - October 8, 2020

YUKON
Alan Everett York (59) died on October 8th, 2020. He was born April 24th, 1961, in Oklahoma City to Raymond P. York and Yvonne J. (Freeman) York. He married Nikeeta Nelson on July 24th, 2018, in Las Vegas, NV. Alan retired from the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in 2016 as a supervisor after 28 years of service. Alan liked traveling, fishing, and watching football, but enjoyed nothing more than helping his family and friends. When he wasn't out doing for others, he could often be found in the company of his Jack Russell Terrier mix, Ellie. From boating to summer cookouts to hiking with his daughter, Alan believed in living life to the fullest. He was as comfortable fixing an engine as he was baiting a hook, and rarely missed an opportunity to play amateur chef.
Alan graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1979 and had his first child, Joseph Alan York, in 1982. Working in the oil fields from age 18, Alan was known as the youngest driller in the company's history. Later, he worked as a meter reader for the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, where he would quickly become a supervisor and eventually meet his future wife, Nikeeta. Alan lived his life full of love and service for his family and friends. Before his passing, Alan celebrated the birth of three beautiful grandchildren. He was a long-time donor to St Joseph's Indian School, St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and the Bella Foundation SPCA, and attended the Northwest Campus - People's Church with his wife.
Alan was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond York, his aunt, Dorothy Etchieson, and his uncle, William York. Survivors include his beloved spouse, Nikeeta York, his children, Joseph A. York and Laura B. Kimmel, his step-son, Jordan A. Nelson, his parents, Raymond and Yvonne York, his brother, Danny York, and his brother-by-choice, Richard Earl Etchieson. Alan is also survived by his grandchildren, David, Daniel, and Lydia York, and by many other cousins, nephews and nieces, family members, and friends.
Viewing will be Tuesday, October 13th, from 9:00am to 9:00pm, with family present from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and services held Wednesday, October 14th, at 1:00pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Home in Bethany, OK. To watch the live webcast or share condolences, visit: www.mercer-adams.com

Alan was a dear friend and someone you could always count on. I love Alan’s infectious smile and loving ways. For as long as I can remember... Alan always saw the right/bright side of everything. Alan was always the optimist and I have always loved that about him. RIP my sweet friend.
