Bill Murray Obituary

October 11, 1936 - June 2, 2011 CHICKASHA Bill D. Murray was born October 11, 1936, to Claud A. Murray and Willie "Bill" Constance (Borden) Murray in Duncan, OK and departed this earthly life on June 2, 2011, in Blanchard, OK at the Senior Living Center. During his early years, Billy Don was taught a rigorous work ethic by his father and became a life-long advocate of FFA. While attending Cameron University, he thrived in being a part of the Livestock Judging Team. In his adult years he used his resources to support the FFA efforts of Chickasha and surrounding communities. While attending Central State University of Edmond, Bill met his "soul mate," Elverna Joyce Moore, and was married July 1, 1961. Throughout their marriage, he would respond to Elverna's "I love you" with "I love you Moore." Bill received Jesus Christ as Savior in the spring of 1961 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha, as well as the Chickasha Gideon Chapter. Bill's favorite hobby was to work in the oil field, whether owning a tank truck company, hot-shotting tools, designing environmental equipment or creating a secondary containment company. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and especially family. Bill and Elverna traveled countless hours to watch their children, nieces, nephew and grandchildren participate in sporting events and school programs. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Elverna of their home in Chickasha, OK; his daughter and spouse, Donna and Leonard Stiles of Conway, Arkansas; his son and spouse, Steve and Kim Murray of Hinton, OK; brother and his spouse, Tom and Sandy Murray of Chickasha, OK; grandchildren, Candy Meeks and sons Hayden and Deagan of Conway, Arkansas, Bethany and Meagan Stiles of Conway, Arkansas, Ethan and Aaron Murray of Hinton, OK; and numerous nieces and nephew. Services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Chickasha, OK with Steve Murray officiating. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation - Alzheimer's Department. Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK. Services are under the direction of McRay Funeral Home.

So sorry to hear of Billy Don's passing.
He was a good friend and classmate. Always enjoyed FFA classes together in High School and working with him at Freight Master in Ft. Worth.
