The flag is flying in the sky
A daily reminder of who and why
We sit here remembering them today
These heroes that now lie in their grave.

While here on earth, the bravest ones
A soldier, a mother, a daughter, a son
The father's who went far off to war
To ensure our safety and so much more

To keep our children happy and free,
Someone must do this job, you see
So, today remember the soldiers who served,
Because this is one thing they truly deserve.

The loved one's that they have left behind,
The Gold Star mothers, like your and mine
We honor them proudly, every day
Our American Soldier...Proud and Brave
By Shannon Williams-Austill

I want to thank this soldier for their sacrifice.
And, I wish to extend my deepest regards to the loved ones they have left behind. Their service to our nation, has not gone unnoticed. They are our heroes, who paid the ultimate price for us, and that is something that every American needs to be reminded of and remember everyday.
The freedom we all have, we have because of brave young men and women who made a choice to defend and serve.
Today, let me remember your loved one with you.

To the family and parents of Brady I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

I went to pharmacy school with Brady eight years ago. He was a really good guy, both intelligent and kind. Brady's first son was born while we were in school. He was so happy and proud! I remember him bringing in pictures to show everyone in class. Although I hadn't seen Brady since graduation, he's a person I'll always remember fondly. I extend my condolences to his family.

Brady, god bless you soldier and thank you for your service to a grateful nation, forever we will mourn you and those fallen service members both before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was KIA in Iraq while on a routine patrol. My promise to him was that I would never forget him but also those fallen before and after him. When I made that promise to him the day we laid him to his final resting place I did not realize how often I would need to make entries on Legacy and it just breaks my heart knowing that so many other families have and will continue to feel the pain that our family has endured. To the Rudolf family please accept my heart felt condolences and my prayer that god help you cope with this tragic loss and may the memories of your HERO carry you through each day. From one Gold Star family to another we will never forget Brady!

I knew Brady for more than 16 years in the Army National Guard at Lexington. He was very young when I first met him and I was immediately impressed with his quiet professionalism. To the family of a Hero,
I pray to God that you find peace at this time. Brady was a great man and we are all proud for him serving our country. I went to school with Brady most of my life, he was a year younger than I. What I remember most about Brady was that he was always happy and had a great personality. I know he played football with my brother, Paul, which was always a fun time. There was always a moment in the halls of DHS that you could find him with that big grim on his face. My fiance, James, is in the Army in Iraq at this time. I cannot imagine if something happened to him. I want you to know that all the troops praise him for his hard work and dedication to the war. Again, I hope you carry with you his big grin!!! I know I will.

I was very saddened to hear of your loss and the death of Brady Rudolph. I went to school with Brady and although he was a grade level above me, he was always a kind, caring and friendly individual. I will always remember him for that and also his fun-loving nature. I know he touched the hearts of many growing up and I'm sure he continued that throughout his life. I appreciate the service he gave to his country, which exemplifies the ideals he lived his life by. Even though I knew him for a short time, he was a very good person and I will always remember him - I was lucky to have crossed paths with such a person - it is why I still remembered him when I heard his name on the news last night. A HERO'S SMILE

I Remember the day in June when we gathered one more time
Not knowing it was going to be our last
The kids all played, we ate and talked,
You said in 390 days you'd be back
We thought it would be fun to do this again
Upon your safe return
But that would never happen
Sept 18th we all would learn
God had a different plan for your life,
A hero you would become
You gave the ultimate sacrifice,
So that we may all have freedom
We'll remember you as a brave soldier,
Son, brother, husband, father, friend
And we'll never forget your hero's smile,
Until we meet again

Jennifer, Nathalia and Dustin,
I'm so thankful we had that last get together to send Brady off yet so sad that is was our last time to see him. It still just seems unreal to me. But as I thought about it all so much last week, I was just inspired to write this poem about that day. We will always remember Brady as a hero, and his smile is just unforgetable. Jennifer, I know it's been so hard and realize that this is where it gets even harder. Please know that we will continue to remember you and those sweet boys in our prayers, as well as the rest of the family. We love you guys and hope we get the chance to see you when you come to Durant.
All of our love,
Brittany, Craig, Mia and Masyn

Jennifer,
I went to Durant Middle School with Brady from 6-8th grade, as we were the same age. I vividly remember his face and how he would tease on the schoolyard. He had this sandy blonde bowl haircut and he was tall and thin. I moved away when my stepdad was transferred to Ks, and then again to Lewisville Tx in 1988. I had hoped to stay in Durant and graduate w/Brady and all of my other dear friends. I am now reconnecting with some of them now and through Facebook found out about dear Brady's fate (Jonathon Bonds). My best friend's parents attended Brady's funeral (Jim and Pat Saunders/Durant Ok). Jen and I spent hours on the phone today talking about Brady and what we remembered about him so long ago. She was one yr older and her brother, Paul, was one yr younger than Brady. Another close friend, Jodi McWilliams, from the same class at DMS and DHS sent me this link to Brady's guestbook. I want to extend my sincere condolences to you and your boys, as well as to yours and Brady's extended family. I cannot imagine your loss. I still cannot believe this has happened and I wish that there was something I could do. I can tell you that the Saunders told me that there was not a dry eye in the church earlier today... and I am not surprised. We don't know eachother but just know that I am grieving from Dallas Tx and hope that in some way, that you find some comfort in my words about Brady from middle school days! He was obviously, an amazing person, husband and father and if I could hug you right now, I would!!! I wish you peace and comfort at such a difficult time for your and your family. When you are ready, I would like to tell you a little funny story about Brady out on the playground - I am at [email protected]. Bless you Jennifer!!!!

In Honor of Brady Rudolf our Hero and Friend- From his friends at the VA Hospital Pharmacy

Stacy Abraham

September 25, 2008

Dear Rudolf family... I am mourning along with you at the loss of Brady... my Coworker, My friend, my hero.... life as been a blurr since I've recieved the news... I worked with his at the VA Hospital Pharmacy..and we became friends... he had this brillent smile and way of making jokes that you couldn't help but laugh. I remember our conversations that we'd have ..some light hearted, some deep..about God and things going on in the war. I remember before mothers day he asked me if I could help him plan a great mothers day surprise for Jennifer..he told me how she was at home all day with the kids and he wanted to take her out somewhere nice. He didn't believe in going out to resteraunts on Sunday because it was the Lords day and I remember him telling me he didnt want to have businesses make someone work on Sunday when they should be enjoying the day with their family and relaxing at home and going to church. I thought "wow!..what a great guy!" He wanted to take Jennifer out somewhere special so he had me call the Skirven Hotel for their special Mothers day brunch and to his dismay it was completly booked. He still said Mothers day was good even though he couldn't surprise you where he really wanted to take you Jennifer. I know you know how much he loved you. I have a 1 1/2 year old daughter and we would talk about kids all the time and the grin on his face at just the start of a conversation about his 3 preciouse boys was priceless...he was always beaming at the thought of his 3 boys. Oh how he loved them! I miss him so much.. words cannot even express the loss your family and the entire nation. Brady is in a better place...with Jesus... his Savior and God... we will all meet him again one day! Love and Prayers to you all. GOD BLESS

Linda Sinnott

September 25, 2008

Jennifer,
All I have done today is replay the gazillion conversations we had that were a repeat of the ones before. The one when you tell me how scared you are and you ask me how I do it all the time. Then I tell you, I just do, and when there’s nothing I can do, I have to give it to God. Then you ask how Dale does it and how Brady is supposed to do it. How do they cope with being away from us and from the kids, knowing that they are in danger everyday. Then I tell you, they just do. And, since those comments never made you feel better I always followed it up with “if there’s nothing we can do to keep them home, then at least we get some extra money.” I know that comment didn’t make you any more comfortable, but it did make you smile. The humor was always my way of making it okay. It seems to gloss over the rough stuff.

When we moved to Texas, you may remember that Dale was supposed to go to Iraq shortly after we arrived, and that was changed. A new assignment and personnel issues caused the date to change again. Once in Iraq, his report date to the new assignment changed which then affected the time he needed to leave Iraq. Dale, wanting to spend extra time with us before the new assignment, tried to leave Iraq several days early, but his replacement was delayed about three days so that he was unable to leave until this last Sunday, September 21st.

Dale’s job in Iraq was to manage the air operations. He returned yesterday, September 24th, and he shared this story with me. He told me that just like other incidents, he handled the logistical part of this incident. And, although he is not privy to the soldiers’ names, for some reason this one really got to him. He couldn’t figure out what was different about this one, but it weighed on him over and over. So, he devoted extra attention to it and managed it with vigilance. Yesterday, when he returned to the US, he learned that Brady was on that flight. Dale said he felt like he was slammed in the chest.

I believe that God was already working to take care of you years ago because we were meant to cross paths. We were meant to have all those conversations so that today I could answer your question, “How do they do it?” The answer is: “they do it together”.
Even in the worst of times, God is with us. God was using Dale to make sure Brady’s accident was handled with the utmost respect. And, even though they did not know it, they were together. When we feel that we cannot endure the suffering brought upon us, remember that God is always with us. It is through him that you will find peace. I love you.

He always kept me laughing at the Tadlock family holidays and reunions with his contagious smile and funny jokes. You just had to love the guy, there was no way around it. God Bless those who stand of for what they believe in and fight the good fight! GOD BLESS YOU BRADY!!! and GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY!!! Let's not forget why he was over there, and let's never forget that our freedom comes with a price; a price very dear!

The LORD will march out like a mighty man,
like a warrior he will stir up his zeal;
with a shout he will raise the battle cry
and will triumph over his enemies.

Brady was a really great guy. I’m really proud to have known him. I went to high school with him and was a member of his graduating class in Durant. He was our pharmacist in Newcastle for a time recently. I last saw Brady at an air show in Oklahoma City a few years ago as I was about to tour a Chinook helicopter I turned around and Brady was right behind me with his sons. My thoughts are with his family.

Dear Rudolf Family,

Samantha is CWO Corry Edwards' Sister, and I am Samantha's Sister-In-Law. I'm sure you probably know that Corry was on board the Chinook with your beloved Brady. While we are all mourning the loss of Corry, we mourn with you as well. In testimonies, I have heard many similarities between the two. They were both wonderful fathers, husbands, brothers, etc., who gave so much to their communities, and obviously to their Country. Most importantly, however, they were and are true heroes. We want to express how very much we appreciate your service and sacrifice. You have all sacrificed so much for our freedom, and we thank you. Please know that our family and friends are praying not only for Corry's family, but specifically for yours as well. We are so sorry for your loss, but we were so grateful to hear that he knew Christ. It brought peace, knowing that he is with the Savior in Heaven.

Sincerely,

Bill & Mary Ann Remshardt

My deepest sorrow's as well as my most heart felt respect go to the family of CWO Rudolf. I did not know him, but I have a son who is currently serving as an Army medic in Iraq, and I can not possibly imagine what you are going through at this time, but know that you have the support and love of an entire nation behind you. I will be participating in his memorial with the Patriot Guard Riders and consider it a great honor to do so.
May God's blessings rain down on the Rudolf family. You are in my prayers.

A Soldier's Fortune

At the end of a cool Fall day,
all too soon, the bugler sadly blows.
it’s a mournful, soulful tune,
one that everybody knows.

The notes hang in the air so still,
as the tears roll down a caring face,
we wish we were not hearing the song for this reason,
and we long to be in another time and place.

But the memory of the tune lives on,
and like a brave soldier, it can never truly die,
but it too leaves an empty feeling,
and a simple wish for a time gone by.

All I have left are my memories,
I’ll treasure them against the wasteful tide,
I’ll keep them safe next to my heart,
and I'll look back on them with a sense of pride.

Because Brady, your death was not in vain,
and you died just doing what you loved the most,
and I feel privileged to have been your friend,
and that is something I will always proudly boast.

You always said that you’d never ask another,
to do what you weren’t prepared to do.
and on September 18th, 2008, you truly were a soldier,
a patriot, through and through.

You were doing what you loved,
and even if you’d known the outcome, nothing would have changed,
because you knew of a soldier's fortune,
and that destiny simply can't be rearranged.

You died a true hero,
and that fact is not just seen through my eyes,
because all of your friends and family knew the real you,
but I guess this should come as no surprise.

Because you touched everyone that you met,
and you did it in some unforgettable way,
and these words are to honor you,
but they still leave so much to say.

You truly are my hero,
you paid the ultimate sacrifice,
I know you loved your country,
and I know you knew the price.

Goodbyes are not forever,
and goodbyes are not the end.
they simply mean I'll miss you dearly,
until we meet again.

I miss you.

Shocked doesn't quite describe the feeling when I heard the devastaing news. My thoughts and prayers turned immediately to his family. I had the priviledge of working with Brady for several years at the little walmart in Newcastle. I will always remember the expression in his eyes when he would talk about his loving family. He was always so proud of his boys and their accomplishments and loved his wife with such compassion. It was an honor to have known him and to have been given an opportunity to see his unrelenting faith in God work such blessings in his life. Jennifer, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful soul with us at the little walmart in Newcastle. I am truly blessed for having known him.

I didn't know Brady but I would like to express my deepest sympathy for the loss of a True American Hero. I lost my husband Sgt Jesse Blamires 30 May 2007 in a Chinook crash as well. The days ahead will be hard but remember the memories you have shared and let them comfort you always. My thoughts and prayers are with Brady and those he left behind. I want to thank Brady and the Rudolf Family for the sacrifice of a Hero. He will never be forgotten.

Jennifer,
You and the boys are in our every thought and prayer. Robin and I love each of you so much. There are some people we meet that are special, that instantly become part of our lives. It is these few people that know us as well as those friends we grew up with. For me, Brady was one of those few people. He was great company, and he was as good, and as true a friend as any person could hope for. I was priviledged and blessed to know him, and to call him my best friend. I know that Brady was loved by so many that we all thought of him as our best friend. And that’s true, we were all his best friends and he loved us all, and in the stories that we have of Brady, he lives on in our hearts and spirits. I will never forget all the great times we had together, and look forward to sharing those treasured memories with Braden, Ty and little Nate. I’m extremely proud of him: his character, his devotion, his honesty, and his courage. I will miss my friend very much.

Dear Nathalia, Dustin, and Jennifer,
Mike and I are so sad about Brady. We knew him as a great young man and as we read these entries and articles in the news, realized that as he matured, he became a very fine man, son, husband and father, and soldier. His bravery and courage will be remembered by so many. Nathalia, as a mother, I hurt for you because I know these must be the hardest days of your life. You have had so may losses and the loss of a child must be so overwhelming. Please know that we are praying for you, Dustin, Jennifer and those precious little boys. I see Larry's smile on Brady's face and know he must be with Larry now. Love, Mike and Debbie Green

I wish to offer my regrets for the loss of Brady, I just found out a few minutes ago. The last time I recall seeing Brady was in at DHS. I graduated in 1988. I am also in the National Guard at Broken Arrow in the 120th medical unit. Realize GOD will call us all, we can take comfort in faith in HIM to guide us home to be with HIM.
