Charles Barbieri Obituary

Charles Carmen died 5/18/10 at his home. Born 3/14/25, he grew up in New Haven, Conn. At 17, he joined the Marine Corps and proudly served his country for 32 years. Retiring as a Colonel, he and his wife, Peggy, moved to Oklahoma City, where they are members of Southern Hills UMC. Guided in life by his faith in God and the sanctity of marriage, and his devotion to the Corps, he will be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather, and an outstanding Marine. One of 13 children he is survived by his sister, Yolanda, his wife, Peggy, his children, Dave and Dana, three granddaughters, Kristen, Katie and Kelsey, and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held 10:00 A.M. 5/22/10 at Southern Hills UMC. Visitation will be 5/21/10 at 7pm-8pm Friday. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Carolyn Wiliams Center.

I worked in the same office with Chuck at Tinker during the 1980's He was plesant to be around and always wore a smile. The funny thing he used to tell abiut his first days in the Marines was quite a story. While his fellow boot camp Marines to be complained about the food and the rigorous training he said he found it better than what he had at home. Yes, he was a good man and will be missed.

We are so sorry about our beloved Uncle Charlie. He was always so interested in family and was always there to give love and advise. He had a good life and was a wonderful husband and father. Our sympathy goes to all the family, even if we did not see everyone very often, I feel as though we know you all. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Lucy Ann and Billy
