Edna Duggan Obituary

Edna Veronica Duggan
Mrs. Duggan, age 84, of Charlotte, and formerly of Absecon, NJ, passed away on June 29, 2011.
She was born on Nov. 30, 1926, in Atlantic City, NJ, to August J. and Gladys Santa Maria Duggan.
Edna was a retired dietitian who had retired from the Atlantic City Medical Center following twenty-five years of service.
Edna was a loving daughter, mother, sister, and was a phenomenal grandmother and great grandmother. She was a gentle lady who was a loving and giving caregiver. Mrs. Duggan was a valuable asset to the community of Absecon. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.
She had lived in Absecon, NJ, for sixty years and had moved to Charlotte to live with her daughter, Colleen, a couple of months ago.
Mrs. Duggan was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Absecon.
Survivors include her five children: Sandra Barberio, St. Petersburg, FL; Robert Duggan Hill and fiancee Tiann, Boston, MA; William James Duggan, Jr., and Darcie Doran, Mystic Island, NJ; Colleen A. (Rogers) LeGrande, Charlotte; and John Patrick (Lisa) Duggan, Allentown, NJ; four siblings: Eddie (Enga) Gross, St. Petersburg, FL; Betsy Smallwood, Absecon, NJ; and Margie Barber and Joseph Louis Gross, both of St. Petersburg, FL; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; and her beloved friend and companion, Edmond Esposito, Absecon, NJ.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, July 1, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8451 Idlewild Road, Charlotte. The Reverend Patrick T. Hoare will be the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at a later time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, NC Chapter, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Ste. 200, Cary, NC 27513.
