July 15, 1955 - August 7, 2011 OKLAHOMA CITY Daniel Dana Blackstock, 56, died of health complications Aug. 7, 2011, at his home in Oklahoma City. Dan was born July 15, 1955, at Wesley Hospital in mid-town OKC to Ben and Bonnie Blackstock. He attended Edgemere Elementary then moved to Edmond where he graduated from Edmond High School. It was a fun life living on the side of the hill in SE Edmond with brother Sam, sister Melissa, three horses and two dogs. Dan was a Life Scout and even enjoyed the rainy summer camps at Sasakwa. He sampled SW State at Weatherford and the University of Oklahoma before enrolling at the University of Central Oklahoma where he was awarded an accounting degree in 1976 and was active in several campus organizations. He enjoyed a career as a dependable oil and gas accountant. Dan and his former wife, Donna Campbell, were married in 1985 and the proud parents of a son, Brian Daniel, born in 1987. Dan was a cheerful, outgoing person who belonged to several clubs. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was incessantly busy and could fix anything. Dan was a good neighbor and a helpful, friendly fellow worker. He had a caring, generous heart and was the first to come to the aid of anyone in need. He also did his share of picking up stray dogs. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, Aug. 15, at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 2717 W. Hefner Rd. A reception will follow. We Miss your miss your laugh

Danny - I miss you just as much today as I did when you passed. I can't count the number of times that I've wished I could call or text you, just to talk or ask your advice. I'm blessed to have so many great memories, like the time you came to Tulsa to see us after you bought your Pinto. You were taking me and Granny Blanche for a drive, and we were on South Harvard. The traffic was stopped, when I guess you decided to take a shortcut. Maybe you thought it was a driveway or something, but it was actually a sidewalk by Moody's Jewelers. Granny shouted, "Danny, it's a sidewalk!", as I sat in the backseat laughing. I always looked forward to and loved when y'all came to visit us. You brought so much fun and laughter to our lives. Till we see each other again... XOXO! Lisa

Dearest Danny,

My heart is broken as I think about a life without you in it. You've left our world far too soon.

You were such a precious gift and I have wonderful memories of our times together. Caitlin summed it up best when she said that the way she'll always remember you is how happy you made her feel. This is so true. Whether it was when we were playing together as kids, a short visit while we lived in Edmond or an overnight trip after we moved to Rockwall, we always looked forward to spending time with you. So many great times that we'll never forget.

You've left a wonderful legacy behind in Brian. What a smart, handsome and wonderful young man he is. I know you were so proud of him.

You're in our hearts always,
Lisa, Gerry, Caitlin, Leslie and Drew

I am praying for your eternal happiness, Dan, because I believe we never cease to exist. Your journey as an alive and enlivening human being has brought joy to so many. I myself can only think of the joy filled times we shared with friends. Your memorial was so wonderful. And I am still learning from your example about how to behave joyfully, respectfully and with dignity as a friend, family member and fellow human being. TWMA, Jay

Dear Dan, You have been my best friend for 31 years. I am going to miss that warm happy smile and cheerful outlook when we were young. I will especially miss our daily phone calls by asking me how I was doing or telling stories about our day or telling me to turn the TV channel to watch a great movie on TCM. I am so very glad you introduced me to so many wonderful different friends thru the years for which I still cherrish all their friendships. And then there were times you made me so very crazy and I could have done the same to you, but I came back for more and I am happy for it. You will always be remembered, because you will always have a special place in my heart. So here it is to you Dan CHEERS IN HEAVEN!

While I worked for a short time in 1973 with Daniel's father Ben, Daniel came to help us during the summer. His obituary doesn't mention what a great sense of humor he had. All summer long he kept us smiling and laughing. My condolences to his family.

There was nobody like Dan. I was blessed to have met him while working in banking. We became great friends. Going out to his home in Edmond and feeding the fish in the pond was so much fun. I enjoyed being a part of his family. Dan was the Mr. Fixit; one particular time, he was trying to fix the garage door opener and lost the tip of his finger. I had just gotten to the home and the accident happened and rushed him to the ER. Dan was a gifted man. When Brian came into his life - his heart was so full of joy. My love and prayers to the Blackstock family.
