David Engles

David Crocket, "D.C.", went to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2010 after an extensive illness. He was born on April 15, 1929 at home to David Crocket Engles (Bay) and Oza Batson in Macks, AR. At the age of eleven, he began working in the field, driving a tractor and picking cotton. He continued this work until 1949 and moved to OKC at the age of twenty where he met and married Bettie Engles, his wife of 58 years. He was employed as a foreman for Amis Material, retiring in Nov. 2008 after 55 years, due to an illness. D.C. is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Howard Engles. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Engles; son, Mike Engles and wife Tammy; daughter, Michelle Cerda and husband Fidel; his beloved grandchildren, Taylor Engles and wife Jennifer, Terri Engles, Eric Engles and wife Chandace, Britny Cerda, Briana Cerda, Brooke Cerda; four precious great grandchildren, Dylan Engles, Camryn Engles, Grady Engles and Caden Engles; numerous nephews, nieces, loved relatives and friends. Special thanks to Solamor Hospice and SSM Healthcare, Dr. Fixley and staff. Viewing will be Saturday from 4-8 PM and Sunday from 12 Noon-8 PM at the funeral home. Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may leave condolences at www.vondel smithmortuary.com
