GREGORY STANFILL Obituary

January 23, 1973 - February 4, 2014 OKLAHOMA CITY Gregory Howard Stanfill was a good man. He died at the age of 41, after a short illness, on February 4, 2014. Gregory was born January 23, 1973, in Oklahoma City to Kay and Tom Stanfill. He graduated from McGuinness High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City University Cum Laud with a BA double major in Fine Arts and Art History, and the University of Oklahoma with a Master's of Fine Arts. He worked fourteen years for Candid Color Systems in Oklahoma City as a graphic artist. Gregory was preceded in death by his grandparents, Isabel and Charles Spaulding and Olive and Howard Stanfill; an aunt, Annie Mnich; and several great-aunts and great-uncles. He is survived by his loving parents: Kay and Tom Stanfill of Oklahoma City; aunts and uncles: Jane and Kirk DeShazo of Dewey, OK, and Mike and Suzie Mnich of Bartlesville, OK; cousins: Connie and Gene Napier of Lake Tahoe, CA, Tom and Diney Mnich of Woodland Park, CO, Katie and Steve Snyder of Powhatan, VA, David and Traci DeShazo of Silver Lake, KS, and Julie and Jeff Cole of Bartlesville, OK; longtime dear family friends: Kathy Olney of Plano, TX, Ariceli Neal of Oklahoma City, and Sandra Burke of Oklahoma City; many friends and co-workers; and his ever faithful family dog friend, Luci. Gregory loved his family, his friends, co-workers and pets, and he was proud of his Oklahoma and Texas heritage and Native American ancestry. He loved his country, his state and his "big league" city. He was a gifted artist and photographer, who loved music, history, movies, computers, science and reading. He had an ever inquiring mind about the world, environment and life around him. He was a kind and sensitive man of great integrity, compassion and fairness, who possessed a wonderful and unique sense of humor. He was concerned by the many problems of our country and the world and had great compassion for those less fortunate than him and admiration and concern for those men and women who serve their country in harm's way. He usually had a hand out for those in need, and any birds or squirrels venturing into his yard would always find food that he left for them. Gregory was a truly good man, dearly loved by his mother and father, who will greatly miss their son and best friend, and his many relatives, friends and co-workers. He was an avid and loyal supporter of the USO, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Central Oklahoma Food Bank, the SPCA and NPR, and, in the past, had been a volunteer for World Neighbors and the ICU at Oklahoma Memorial Hospital. Gregory's parents wish to thank the doctors and nurses of the OU Medical Center MICU for their heroic and compassionate efforts, the clergy and members of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, and his many friends and his co-workers at Candid Color Systems for their prayers thoughts and comfort throughout the trying time of his short illness. A memorial service honoring Gregory's life will be on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, 127 NW 7th Street, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, his mother and father request memorials in Gregory's name may be made to the St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral or the Central Oklahoma Food Bank. Arrangements by OK Cremation & Funeral Home of OKC.
