Jake Engel
Del City - Jacob A. Engel Sr., 89, born 2/3/32 to Jake and Florence Engel, passed into Jesus' arms 7/6/21. He leaves behind 5 children: Jake Engel, Jr., Dawn Marie Snellen, Aaron Engel, David Engel, and Gregory Engel. 10 grand-children, 12 great grand-children, a surviving brother Al, and many nieces and nephews. Completing US Naval service, Jake married LaNell Freeman beginning their family in Oklahoma City. With a skill for business, he worked in banking and hospital administration. Soon moving to Morrilton AR, he served as administrator for St. Vincent's Hosp. Returning to OKC, Jake became owner/proprietor of the Capitol Hill Hatchery, and founded the Game Fowl Breeders Association of Oklahoma. An avid golfer, in semi-retirement, he worked the Lincoln Park golf course where he continued his love for the sport. In 1996, he officially broke the World Record for playing the most rounds of golf in one year – 10,374 holes walking! Foremost, Jake Engel was a man of faith and devout Catholic, caring for others and attending daily mass on a regular basis. Mass Celebration of Life will be at 11am, Monday, 7/19/21, St. Andrew Catholic Church, Moore, OK.
