KENNETH FLOYD Obituary

Aug 31, 1921 - April 19, 2014 MOORE Kenneth A. "Kenny" Floyd passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, while a resident of the Veterans Administration Center in Lawton, Oklahoma. Kenneth was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Wilbarger County, Texas, to Seth and Gussie Floyd. He was the eighth of their ten children. He retired as an electrician at Tinker Air Force Base in the early 1980s and lived in Moore, Oklahoma, with his wife, Martha Marie (Miller), from 1971 to 2012. Marie died in 2012, ending the couple's 54 years of marriage. A veteran of WWII, he served from 1942 until the end of the fighting in the Pacific with the 168th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. His unit saw action in campaigns in New Guinea, the Admiralty Islands and in the Philippines. He was honorably discharged from military service in January 1946. Kenneth prized his self-reliance and lived in his own home until health issues limited him in 2013. He was recuperating from surgery at Norman Regional Hospital when the May 20 tornado destroyed his house in Moore. His wife and a son, Terry, preceded him in death. He is survived by his brother, Dale Floyd, of Cache, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, who will cherish his memory. Visitation for Kenny will be at the the People's Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. April 23 at the Lone Wolf Cemetery.
