LOIS CLEMENTS Obituary

Lois Genevere Beavers Clements
July 1, 1927 - January 26, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY
It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Genevere Beavers Clements, more affectionately known as "Goo-Goo", announces her death on January 26, 2020 at Oklahoma City, OK. Genevere held many titles, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister and friend. She spent many of her younger years moving through Oklahoma and Texas as she accompanied her husband, Louis, as he learned the oil and gas drilling business. That same somewhat nomadic lifestyle continued as their living locations became more world-wide starting in Venezuela and moving through the years to Columbia, Barbados and New Guinea before settling down in Houston. She delighted in telling her travel stories about all the different people she had met, the things she had seen and the places she had lived. In 2000, Genevere and Louis moved to Oklahoma City and immediately started making friends as they walked mornings in North Park Mall. And, as a faithful Red Hat Club member, Genevere was always a statement of style with the various red hats, outfits and bling jewelry she would wear as she enjoyed the time spent with friends at Vintage Gardens. Genevere attended Blackwell High School where she met Raymond Louis Clements, and in 1945 in Guthrie, OK she married the love of her life, Louis. Genevere was born on July 1, 1927 in Newkirk, OK to parents William Stephen Beavers and Ruth Ellen Manahan Beavers. Genevere was preceded in death by her parents; brother Marion Beavers; sister Marybelle Davis; sister Rhea Wise; brother Francis Beavers; and husband Louis. Genevere is survived by daughters: Vickie Evans and husband Larry of Oklahoma City, OK, Karen Howard and husband David White of Wallace, NC, and Teresa Clements of Alexandria, VA; grandchildren: Alishia Mayfield and husband David of Oklahoma City, OK, Ashley Odom and husband Jonathan of Ashburn, VA, Quentin Howard and wife Jeannie of Stephenville, TX, Nikki Howard Dean of Merkel, TX, and Georgiana Stephens of Bartlesville, OK; great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Madelyn Mayfield, Triston and Jocelyn Dean, Megan Landry and Brennan Stephens; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Goo-Goo will always be remembered for her unique napkin ear-plugs when attending the movies with the grandchildren, her competitive spirit (some might call it cheating) at the annual Easter Egg Hunt, her luck at winning a Bingo game, her "the kitchen is closed", her "don't tell your father", her control of the TV remote, her love of Hersey kisses and her enjoyment for the bling things in life. But, there is, in her demise one undisputable truth, she will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Epworth Villa for all the care and genuine kindness provided to Genevere throughout the years and to Epworth Hospice at Home for understanding the emotional needs and concerns of the family and the ability to provide a peaceful, dignified, end of life period for Genevere. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest that donations be made in the name of Genevere to the hospice organization of your choice, so that someone else will be able to be assisted through the end of life period with dignity. A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, February 1, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with a reception to follow in the Historic Cemetery Chapel.
