Seward Robb Obituary

Seward Eliot (Scotty) Robb passed away Monday July 13, 2009 at home in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of seventy-six. Scotty was born November 18, 1932 in Creston, Iowa, the son of the Reverend Fred and Josephine P. Robb. He attended schools in Missouri, Iowa, and later in Boston, MA while his father served as a Chaplain in the United States Navy. Scotty attended the University of Wyoming on a basketball scholarship and while there obtained a Bachelor of Science and Master's of Business Administration. He went on to achieve a PhD in Business Management from the University of Texas. He was a member of the Sigma Chi social fraternity and two honorary business fraternities, Sigma Iota Epsilon and Beta Gamma Sigma. Scotty taught at the University of Wyoming, the University of Illinois, the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma. After a rewarding teaching career, he founded his own business consulting firm specializing in economic development and the growth of small businesses. Among his favorite projects was the initial study for the Port of Catoosa. He also enjoyed serving as the first President of the Board of the Moore-Norman Vo-Tech School which provided new and innovative educational opportunities. Scotty took great personal interest in all of his students and his clients and worked hard to promote their success. Scotty was a Captain in the United States Army and served with the National Guard and Reserves in Wyoming, Texas, Illinois and Oklahoma. He was a patriot and a strong believer in government by the people and ran for the United States Congress in 1978. Scotty Robb loved his family, the Universities he served, the State of Oklahoma, the United States of America and served them all to the best of his abilities and all the strength and wisdom that God saw fit to give him. Scotty is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years Cynthia, who he met while he was a student at the University of Wyoming. He is also survived by their three children and spouses, Camilla and Tommy Winfrey, Peter and Trina Robb, and Aimee and David Harlow, all of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by eight grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Claire, Dane and Evan Winfrey, Abby, Connor and Matthew Robb, and Kristina and William Harlow. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law John and Barbara Robb of St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Joann Conard. The Robb family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to his caregivers at Heartland Hospice and others who were kind supportive and caring not only to Scotty but to his family. Services will be held Friday, July 31, at 10:00 am, at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norman, Oklahoma, where he was a member. Rev. James Burns will officiate. Funeral arrangements are being handled by John M. Ireland Funeral Home. Cynthia,

Kelley and I both remember how you and Scotty welcomed me to the neighborhood on Swan Hollow back in 1993. I felt so comfortable knowing that you both were next door if I needed anything. You helped me landscape my front flowerbed with yellow mums. I treasure your friendship.

In deepest sympathy, Adrian Savage

Cynthia,
This seems like a poor way to express my sympathy, but I want you to know how sorry I am about Scotty. I remember running into you some time ago at the hospital when Scotty was there. I am so glad you have the children in times like this. He was an outstanding man. Sincere condolences, Judy Talley-Dale

Aimee, You of course have my deepest sympathy for you and your entire family. This is never an easy road to follow. The history your Dad left behind is a true inhertance for his grandchildren. The strength you extended to your Mother and Dad during this extended time was a true blessing to them. As always, I remain your loving friend. Mary Jane
