Horst, M.D. Jul. 21, 1954 - Jul. 23, 2016 EDMOND, OK Stanley Alan Horst, M.D., entered Heaven after months of fighting a courageous battle with a rare coronary aneu-rysm. He was born on July 21, 1954 in Tulsa, OK to Ethan and Eda (Lauderbach) Horst.Stan graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was a 1979 graduate of OU College of Medicine where he completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology. Dr. Horst began the practice of cardiology in 1985 at Baptist Hospital and Edmond Memorial Hospital where he also served on the hospital board. He practiced medicine at Oklahoma Heart Hospital, Mercy Hospital and OU Medical Center Edmond. In 1982, Stan fell in love and married Pam English, and they made Edmond their home. As newlyweds, Stan and Pam started a church program for individuals with special needs and continued this ministry together for 34 years. As a 30-year member of Henderson Hills Baptist Church, Dr. Horst gave his time weekly at the Ministries of Jesus Medical Clinic. Stan is preceded in death by his mother Eda. He leaves behind his loving wife, Pam, son, Bradley Horst, daughter, Rachel Horst Litsch (Josh), and grandson, Parker. He will also be missed by his father, Ethan, sisters, Meryl Benenati, Cheryl Horst and Carley Lehman, as well as in-laws, Parker and Lavada English.A celebration of Stan's life will be Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, 1200 East I-35 Frontage Road, Edmond, OK 73034. Memorial donations in the honor of Stan can be made out to Henderson Hills Baptist Church Special Needs Ministry or Ministries of Jesus Medical Clinic at Henderson Hill. I didn't know Stanley as an adult only through his sisters Meryl and Cheryl with whom I was a junior counselor at Camp Adventure in Tulsa back in the 60's. Many good memories. So sorry to hear of the loss of their brother. I lost my sister, Debbie Mahan who also worked at the camp. She was Cheryl's Jr counselor and I was Meryl's. Wonderful times. I share their pain in their loss and wish them the best.

Like Steve Hurter I was also in the DU fraternity with Stan from 1972-1976. Stan and I also knew each other in high school from 1969-1972.

I know that he did what he wanted to do in life. He will be remembered by me as a true friend and honest guy.

I just learned of Stan's passing through our college fraternity, Delta Upsilon. We were roomates in the dorm and the fraternity house from day one. Now, so many fond memories come flooding back. Good travels my brother. May our paths cross again.

I first saw Dr. Horst in 1991 when I had a heart attach. He was the best doctor I ever saw. He made you feel at ease and helped you not to get too scared. I saw him twice a year for 25 years. I had heart attacks in 2007 and he was so kind and reassuring to me and my family. I will miss him but will see him again in heaven and not for a heart problem but salvation in our Christ and savior.

Dear Pam,
I was so sad to hear of Stanley's passing.
I remember Stanley best when he was in medical school with Dick. He always had a beautiful smile on his face every time I would see him. He was always so nice to everyone.
My heart is broken for you. I am so sorry for your loss, and your children's loss. I know he will be missed dearly.

I was so sorry to hear of Dr Horst' passing. I have visited him every year since 1992 when I had by-pass surgery and he became my cardiologist. He has always been very kind and always concerned about what was happening in my life. He has been a tremendous help to me through the years. I will definitely miss seeing him. I HAD WORKED AT EDMOND HOSPITAL FROM 1989 TO 2003,I WOULD SEE DR HORST ABOUT EVERYDAY,HE ALWAYS SAID HELLO AND GREETED YOU WITH A SMILE. AFTER I LEFT THE HOSPITAL I MOVED TO THE MOB BUILDING AND DR HORST OFFICE WAS IN THERE,I DIDNT SEE HIM VERY MUCH BUT WHEN I DID HE ALWAYS GREETED ME WITH A HELLO. HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.
