Barbara Jane Sparks (Young) of Crestwood, Ky. passed away suddenly on Sept. 15, 2021 at the age of 77. Barbara was born on Nov. 10, 1943 in Charleston, W.Va. to the late Laura and Jack Young. Barbara graduated from Bowling Green Business College and attended Western University where she participated in drill team. Barbara's life was one of service to the community and her Church. For years she was the official local office supply store where customers knew they could come for service, smiles and a few candies in their bags. She always went the extra mile for everyone. She gave generously, more than she had to, and never turned a needy soul away. Barbara was an animal lover that had many pets in her life. She loved square dancing to Sparky's calling. She was passionate about her volunteer work at New Hope Baptist Church, as well as serving for the Republican Party as Precinct Co-Captain. Barbara was proud to be picked as Crestwood Elementary's Volunteer of the Year.
Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Lloyd George Sparks. She was a devoted mother to J.D. Sparks (Yuko) and Karan Sparks; cherished grandmother to Manabu, Rosalie, Kenta and Isabella; dear sister to Donna Glore (Mike Glore), John Young (Laura Young); and aunt to nephews Arron Young, Ocean Robert Michael Bowling; and niece Laurie Morgan (Paul). Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Jeffrey Young. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021 from 9 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11 a.m., all at Louisville Memorial Gardens Funeral Home East, 11601 Ballardsville Rd. Louisville, Ky. 40241. A gathering to celebrate Barbara's life will immediately follow at New Hope Baptist Church.
