Ken Woods Obituary
La Grange
Ken "Cowboy" Woods, a beloved father, car salesman and Kentucky native, passed away peacefully on Jan. 3, 2025 surrounded by his devoted children. Born on March 17, 1947, in Cub Run, Ky., Ken lived a full and vibrant 64 years, spending his final 13 years in La Grange.
Ken's charm, quick wit and unique outlook on life made him unforgettable to everyone he met. Known for his signature phrases like, "It either will or it won't," and "She'll either get over it or she'll die over it," Ken had a knack for putting life into perspective. His ability to read people with precision made him a highly successful car salesman, a career that reflected his deep understanding of human nature and his gift for connection.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ken was a man of humor and resilience. He cherished his family and created countless memories, with his children Emily and John Stewart (whom he lived with), Robert (Carrie) Woods, Valerie (Stan) Shelton, 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, who were his greatest source of pride and joy.
Ken also leaves behind three brothers, Gerald (Carol) Woods of Louisville, Gary (Holly) Woods of Florida and Greg (Shana) Woods of Louisville.
Ken's legacy will live on in the stories he told, the lessons he taught and the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by his children, extended family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will meet in Heaven his ex-wife (whom he loved), Kathy Flaker Woods; his son, Michael Woods; his brother, Rockneil ("Rocky") Woods; and parents, Herman (Doris) Woods and Dona Thompson.
In honor of Ken's memory, a celebration of his life will be held at 121 East Main Street La Grange, Ky. on Jan. 18, 2025 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Together we will celebrate as "The Cowboy Rides Away".
